It is already happening, I have seen CF4's, Tritons, BBCOR's, and wood. Squared up balls still go a long way and more flairs are being caught by the infielders.
Wood, by personal choice.

There is plenty of evidence that BBCOR performs the same as wood, without the feel and sound of wood.

The exempt list of BESRs may perform up to about 5% better than wood--and then you will not be able to use them in 2012, you'll be on BBCOR standard like it or not.

If this is not a "make or break" year, it might be wise to use it productively by really learning how to hit with wood or (erk...) BBCOR.

I sympathize with guys whose 2011 season really is "make or break" time, though--that's really the only good reason to use the 1 year exeption to go after that 5% advantage.
laflippin,

That is our situation. My oldest is a 2012, so technically this is his big year to show what he's got. He will be swinging a Cf4, as long as it holds up anyway. My freshman son is swinging a bbcor Voodoo.

On the flip side, they are both pitchers so hopefully the new bats will make them look a little better on the mound. Big Grin
He is not yet in high school, but my son is getting a BBCOR Omaha for the Babe Ruth season. He has tried the BESR version and liked it pretty well, and the BBCOR version got pretty good reviews from the fall season.

It is also the first time he is going to -3, so we'll see how it goes. Does anyone have any information on the balance of the of the BBCOR Omaha compared to the BESR Omaha?
I saw your post bsbl247 regarding the breaking. I bought a used CF4 a couple of weeks ago and it appears to be holding up. At his last game nearly every kid in the line up used it.... The team has couple of other BBCOR bats and Jr generally swings wood, except in games so if it breaks he will try one of the BBCOR bats or wood. He loves his Baum bat so this is also an option.

I agree with laflippin that the performance is about the same. A BBCOR may give slightly better performance on balls in on the hands. The problem with the Ca kids is that they will be forced to buy an early version which may or may not be as good as the later production runs, plus all of the 2011's that move on to college will have bats provided by their programs, which is why I went with a used bat. Anyone want a good deal on a 34" Stealth Composite?

The BBCOR version of the Omaha does not feel as balance as the BESR. The BBCOR does feel a little end heavy. Jr. liked it.
Hey BOF, 247son is now using the Demarini VooDoo BBCOR (I thought it was a Vexxum? Apparently not). Anyway, it doesn't have the same pop, but he feels more comfortable with it. We'll see how long it lasts before he goes back to the "waiver" CF4? He continues to use only wood while hittng off the tee in the garage, and hitting in the cages at school.
Jr played again on Sat. and the whole squad was using the stupid used ebay bat….maybe it is better to buy them used….. We were spanking the other team and I heard a parent from the other stands yell, “hey blue check that bat, it is the only one they are using”. Our coach was chit chatting with the ump and they were talking about how they were going to see a lot of them this year. Frankly the bat had nothing to do with the spanking, kids were just squaring up balls. Jr had a oppo double that he said he was jammed on that probably would have been a single with a BBCOR but other than that hits were hits and outs were outs.
