Runner on third base with no outs. Pitcher is going in his windup and the batter tries to call time, but the umpire does not recognize him. Batter asumes ump will give him time so he steps out of the batters box. The pitcher continues his motion and throws the ball hitting the batter with the ball going off towards the backstop. The runner on third comes in to score. Whats the call?

If this is a high school game under Fed rules the batter would be charged with two strikes and the ball would be dead when it struck him. The runner who was at third base would have to return to third.

If a batter steps out of the box with both feet without being granted time out he is assessed a strike for delaying the game. If the pitcher continues his motion and delivers the pitch it is called a strike regardless of location. Therefore the batter receives two strikes in this case. Lastly, the ball became dead when the pitch hit the batter and the runner at third can't advance when the ball is dead. He returns to third base.
