What would you have done?

Not much I can do now, decisions have been made, just looking for some validation.

My son has a prospect game with Baseball Northwest (BBNW) today. The prospect game is somewhat of a tryout for a championship game held in late August in Oregon. According to the BBNW people, there will be several D-1 scouts there. My son also has a game with his club team today that at head coach from a D-1 school is driving across the state specifically to watch him play. His club team coach highly recommended him to stay and play his club team game and skip the BBNW. And how do you dis a coach that is coming just to watch your son? Do you go to a game that where there are a hundred kids and hope that someone spots you or do you go to a game that one coach is looking at one kid? He will be playing his club team game today. Oh geez, I hope we made the right decision.

If you a specific coach traveling just to see your son that is the route I would go--- the events with many coaches and even more players will happen again over and over---nothing better than a one on one situation--- your are right in the move

I'd have had my son play the club game - there are many opportunities to play in front of an assortment of coaches - but only a handful of chances to play for someone coming to see you.

Alternativly if the coach is traveling to see your son he can change his plans too! The coach probebely wouldn't mind attending a showcase with multple prospects rahter then a game with one or two. YOu just need to give the coach a heads up within a resonable time period, which I assume you did.......

The fact that the coach is going to drive to see him is huge.He wants to see your son play.Showcases are alright,but I much prefer the smaller environment.

Nothing like having a coaches eyes just on your son and no others. It's not only what he does on the field so advise him to warm up before the game correctly and watch his actions in the dugout, etc. These Coach's don't miss a thing! They want to make sure they are kidding a good all-around kid.

Interested coach----don't forget most coaches are friends with all of the other conference coaches (off the field

and negative info (player wasn't at the game they drove to) will usually take players off other coaches lists.

DLP, we did the same thing, except it had nothing to do with someone coming to watch son. If your son is good enough, BBNW will still invite him for the games later in August. Plus they got your registration fee, right? The first time we went, did not see a single recruiter or scout. They mainly come to the Championship games later on.
