I have heard of redshirt student athletes completing a master's degree in their 5th year, but is it possible to do it in the 4th year if the athlete enters the institution as a sophomore due to AP credits? Thanks for any input...
Pretty sure you see this all the time in football. Due to their summer schedule and training they stay at school and get their undergraduate in less than four years so they play as a graduate student.
Pretty sure as long as you are classified as a full time student it does not matter if you are working on an undergraduate or advanced degree, staying within the five to play four limits as well.
You don't have to be an undergrad to play college sports. Greg Paulus became the quarterback at Syracuse while in grad school after playing four years of basketball at Duke as an undergrad.
Blue10- There are many different variables that pertain to this situation, especially in baseball. If you have a specific instance that you feel you need help with or are just curious about, feel free to shoot me a PM. I've been on the phone with the NCAA quite often in the last few weeks working out a few different scenarios that are very similar to what you're asking and think I might be able to be of some assistance.
