Bases loaded, 1 out. Pop up towards first, infield fly is not called. The runner, standing on first, is contacted by the pop-up. The ball roles into foul territory, and the plate umpire yells "Foul!". After a short discussion with his partner, Batter/Runner is awarded first, and runner on 1st is called out for being contacted by a live fair ball. What do you think? What about the failure to award an infield fly, can both the batter and runner be called out in that case? Can the "foul" call be overruled by a partner? Very interesting play with lots of different sticking points.

This is an IF....called or not....the Infield fly rule should apply even though as MST pointed out the results remained the same.....and even though the umpiring crew did not call it....

Enforce the infield fly. Batter out, runners remain. you can no get 2 outs on this play (thats what the IF fly protects against).....
