Does anyone on here go to Wheaton or have experience with it? I know they're one of the top DIIIs in the country. Does anyone have anything to add?

Agree 100% with TR. My son attends WPI(same conference). They finished #1 in the conference and #2 in the nation. Great baseball program and very good academics.
My son was the starting SS for WPI so he knows them well. Can't go wrong with any school in that conference. We finished #3 in the conference.

To echo the above sentiments, you can't go wrong w/ this school or this program. Fantastic academics, nice suburban campus about 30 minutes from Boston and Providence, 45min-1 hour from Cape Cod, and a coach who is just outstanding. Coach Podbelski has taken this program from its inception and in pretty much no time had them playing for a national championship. He has his way of doing things, and it is the right way ethically and athletically. Again, if you're looking for an outstanding degree, a chance to play for a national title, play in the summer leagues, and maybe move on to pro ball, Wheaton and Coach Podbelski's program will fit that bill

I'm pretty sure coach Podbelski only goes to two showcases- Bay State Games and Brockton invitational.

jsorb, you can't be too sure about anything. I know Coach P personally, and can promise you that I have seen him at more than just the Bay State Games and the Brockton Invitational in the last year. Also, his assistant coaches are ALWAYS out and about. Believe me, they cover more ground than most, which is a large reason for their success.

Many of the coaches do not wear their "colors" at showcases thus you may not know they are there
Also as TSFan states Wheaton wins because of their off the field efforts--the same is true for other programs who win consistently---winning doesn't happen by accident

jsorb, Wheaton had a rep at the Blue/Grey event at UMass that you and my son were at. Maybe that's where they saw you?
Yeah, probably. I went there yesterday to check it out...awesome campus with a nice field, top of the line academic opportunities, etc.
Average GPA there's a 3.55...so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get in. Coach P was busy with two recruits when I was there so I could only talk with him on the phone briefly. I'm going back for a real baseball visit. Just from speaking with him on the phone once, which he didn't have to do (he could have just told the secretary to tell me he was busy), I can tell that he's a great guy. He also signed the recruit letter himself, so it says something...

He played baseball at Brandeis with my cousin, I want to say back in the early 90's. My cousin thinks the world of him and was really pushing for my own son to pursue baseball there, but there just isn't an academic fit.
jsorb, no sarcasm at all. I'm serious about that. If they are actually actively recruiting you, it says a lot about you b/c they have seen thousands of '07 players over the past 2 years and decided to make the effort to recruit you. Good work, and good luck!!!
