My son has received several letters and a few phone calls from colleges expressing interest at one time or another, but no school has offered him a new car and condo yetSmile He has also received several invitations to fall camps many of these same colleges/universities. He had to turn down one school he was interested in as it fell on a the same day as a football game and since ee also plays basketball, the schedule is pretty tight year round. I guess this is one of the disadvantages of being a multi-sport athlete.

Are these camps more valuable to juniors then seniors? Valuable to very few? Is playing for a scout team more beneficial? Do the Christmas/Thanksgiving camps fall into this same catagory? I know there isn't one correct answer, but I thought discussion on the relative value of fall camps to seniors and juniors might be interesting.

2parent...if he can play on a scout team, he will always have people watching and his coaches being asked about him...especially in N. Calif. I would also check with the Norcal baseball program as to openings etc...they are a class organization as we have played them many times.

Scout teams have more exposure than a specific college camp in Nov and Dec...usually.

Good Luck!
New NCAA rules for off-campus evaluations in the Fall/Winter (dead and quiet periods) have made it less possible for a college to see you in a holiday tournament. Because they can watch you all they/you want on their campus, the camps can be valuable if you select a couple of "target" schools to attend. They also get a chance to talk to you one-on-one and evaluate your son up close.

Starzz also had good advice if you are from Northern California...the NorCal program (which runs through the Fall) is the best around. Their evaluation of your son will also go a long way with many, many college coaches.
