Having never been through the recruiting "experience", is it normal that there would be no contact around this time (meaning e-mails, letters home, etc.)? I know it's baseball season for the colleges but it seems like things went from 80 mph to 0 !!!! If that's normal, when does it pick up again? After the season?

All coaches do things differently but I do beleive one who is truely interested in a player continues being interested and finds a way to continue the dialogue.

It also depends on what grade you are in for which type of contact, most coaches continue contact through weekly letters about how their season is coming along.

Don't forget, a player can contact the coach at anytime.
I remember my son getting weekly "updates" as well, from about 6 or 7 interested coaches, or recruiting coordinators, leading into his junior year HS season. These in my opinion tended to be more "generic" as far as the type of email being sent. Ironically, only one one those schools ended up seriously making an attempt at recruiting him, during the summer recruiting time frame. Things changed radically during the summer.

IMHO just make sure you are updating coaches with schedules of you HS season and summer showcase and season schedules as these come out. Don't expect to see a lot of coaches until after many of their seasons end in May and even then it may only be a few.
