Both of these districts scream loaded to me. In my opinion, 6 and 9 are the top two districts (at least in the DFW area) and I was just curious which you guys thought was the tougher district or maybe another one that might be just as good. There are several other districts that can compare, it's going to be interesting to see different views on this...

I realize that some 4A districts, such as 10-4A, are also very competitive and good, but I just limited it to 5A.

Didn't see much when we went to Centex earlier in the year and other than Plano East I haven't seen much up here.

I have not seen Colleyville or Southlake.

But, I'm a homer. It seems 8 teams in 6-5A have good to great #1's and 6 of those teams have good #2's and now it looks like several have a little more pitching beyond that, plus all these teams hit, hit, hit.

I like 6-5A teams chances going into the bi-regional match-up and then the regionals.

Plano East has 3 strong starters and a SS that can start or relieve. Most teams in Texas lack offense in some portion of the batting order -- some 3-4 guys, others 2-3. Having said that, it's all about competing at that time of the year. Few districts are being dominated by a single team this year. Martin seems to be cruising. Playoff positioning will be set on the final day of the season in many districts.

The biggest reason Martin has done so well is because of the hitting. They are about as strong as any teams 1-9.

1-9 batting avg.

1 - .457
2 - .421
3 - .473
4 - .474
5 - .384
6 - .383
7 - .306
8 - .318
9 - .317
11's

I'll take Coppell's .405 top 9 ave against Martin's .393....I think they played...14-3 was the result.

Coppell is 5-0 against 5-5A, yes Coppell beat Northwest and Central twice but those are the same teams Southlake and Colleyville are getting their wins against. But 1 through 4 does play 4 through run so we will actually get to see who is better on the field.

TimeToStepUp,

PD made his point and I am sure some other people will post about their pitching staffs.

As for Coppell, yes we are waiting Cole Green to return but it is a when not if. When this happens Coppell will have an Excellent #1, a very good and getting better #2, 3 good options at #3 that could create a great combination of off-speed, changed arm angles and a little heat to finish. One of those starters is also a very good relief man that can close to go with Kettler in the primary closer role. That sounds like a 3++ pitch staff.

Southlake & CHHS are tied for league lead in 5-5A. FM is 1 6-5A and Coppell is 2.

Southlake (5-5A) tied with FM (6-5A) 11-11 (Whats this? tie ??? ) FM leads 6-5A

Southlake (5-5A) beat FMMarcus (6-5A) 10-8. Marcus I think is 3-4 in 6-5A district play

Coppell (6-5A) beat CHHS (5-5A) 14-11.

What of the others from 5-5A? I think that the 8 playoffs teams these two districts produce will be very good teams that will do really well in the playoffs aside from when they will possibly play themselves. The number 4 team from either of these districts will give a number 1 seed from their bi-district a good game. Keep in mind, I do not represent either of these districts, so there is no bias.

With Cedar Hill, Arlington Martin, Arlington High, and Duncanville winning their first round playoffs, I would like to throw district 8-5A in.

Great showing by 8-5A this weekend. I see the DM News highlighted that. Now we'll see them match-up with 6-5A. Cedar Hill vs Coppell, Martin vs Marcus, Flower Mound vs Arlington.
I must say that 8-5A did kick our 7-5A butts... however I don't think I'd consider our district weak. Jesuit didn't play out of character, but some of the games we played similarly in the season had a ball bounce our way or some luck where as this time, none was to be found for us. We did play out of character in the second game, but what's done is done. As for the other teams, I'm very surprised at certain outcomes and yet I think I could say "I told you so" to some people (not on this board). 8-5A is a good district with some good teams--maybe underestimated. Arlington played well as a team. Never panicing. When all was said and done, they made more plays and less mistakes than we did. Funny, they won. Wink
