Andre Dawson...Expo or Cub?
Personally (and facetiously), I'm hoping he goes in as a Red Sox!

Gary Carter is an Expo. Andre Dawson is a Cub.
Definitely a Cub!
I realize he had the MVP year with the Cubs, but to me, when he had all of his 5 tools working, good knees and all, was with the Expos. I think of him more as an Expo than a Cub.
Dawson was at this best as an Expo. Since the Expos became the Nationals, does he go in as a National? Confusing isn't it. It would be much easier if he goes in as a Cub for that reason.

It really just depends on your age on what your opinion is. The old coots remember him more as a Expo and the young wipper snappers think of him as a Cub!

He should go in as a cubbie....his best years were with the Cubs. I'd have no issue with his going in as an Expos though. He did hit #400 with the Red Sox!!

Nick Cafardo from Boston Globe unearthed this old column/interview w/ Dawson from July 20,1993.
TORONTO -- Andre Dawson, who has hit more than 400 home runs and is closing in on 1,500 RBIs, is a likely Hall of Fame candidate, and when asked what cap he would wear if he makes it, Dawson said, "Probably the Red Sox.
"I've respected the way they've treated me and stuck with me. They've shown me a certain respect that I never felt in Montreal and Chicago. Just the way they pursued me in the offseason was an indication of that.
"I'm just sorry I haven't been able to produce for them so far. I think things are coming along. Adjusting to the American League has been difficult, and with my knee problem, it's been hard for me to push off and generate power."

Come on...with the red, white and blue Expo cap.
Hate to say it because I'm a Cub fan but Expos. More years, better number totals with Expos. Plus, without winning a WS, the Cubs don't deserve any more in. That's why Santo can't get in. If he did, there would be 4 (Williams, Jenkins and Banks being the others) guys from the late 60's era in the Hall and couldn't even win 1 WS with 4 Hall of Famers? Being a Cub fan is a difficult existence.

He will be the last guy to go in wearing an Expos cap unless Raines or perhaps Larry Walker get in. Walker would wear a Rockies cap I'm sure.
If Andre Dawson & Tony Perez are in the HOF, Cobra should be there too. Less HR's, but he hit 11 pts higher than each of them.

I agree with Raines. 5th in SB (808), 0.385 OBP, 0.294 BA, 1571 R, one of the greatest leadoff hitters of all-time (Henderson, Raines, Brock).

I feel that Raines can't be kept out much longer. The guy reached base more times than Tony Gwynn in his career! That says it all as a leadoff hitter.

Another guy with similar stats to Raines', and who played the same role for his team is Kenny Lofton. He also reminds me of Willie Mays Hayes.
