Many plus's and minus's to all facilities. I don't know much about Hawkinson Field, but attitude wise Kane County and the Flyers don't care much for the high school kids. Even though the high schools use the facilities the Cougars and the Flyers treat the kids poorly. The JackHammers went all out for the Pitch & Hit High School Showcase. Hopefully that continues..........
St Charles, I must disagree with you. The flyers have gone to great lengths to allow a game between OPRF and Fenwick to be played at the field on May 15th. They usually do not allow games after they have started their season. However, they were convinced that the two schools could draw a big crowd and they allowed a night game to be played. Just one man's thought.
May 15, have to put that on the calendar. We all know and have heard the outlook for OPRF, but how does Fenwick look? No doubt they will turn out a large crowd for that one. I remember watching them play a regional champ game a couple years back and the place was packed (at Fenwick)
I hate to say it since I love em, but the Hawk is terrible in comparsion to what pictures i've seen of Alexian and Elfstrom. Supposedly some renovations though with the new management. Also, they're no longer the Cook County Cheetahs, they're the Windy City Thunderbolts, or Thunder. I forget which name. But there are powerlines so close to the first base side that they couldn't build the upper deck on that side, so it looks really funny. I'd play there if i had the chance because it's a nice playing field, but the stadium is just hideous with the upper deck only on one side of hte field. I do believe that the double A state tourney brought out a better crowd than a Cheetahs weekend series. I hope the new management does something about that.
I was at the State Finals at Hawkinson last year and at Elftrom the year before. Elfstrom certainly beats out Hawk. Alexian is in the middle of the two. Have never been to Silver Cross but hear it is pretty nice. Thankfully, the State Championships have moved back to Elfstrom.
Locally, I'd have to say that you would have to include the Steelyard in Gary to your list. It's very similar to Silver Cross in Joliet and you get to the added bonus of potentially witnessing a robbery or murder on your way in and out.
Reece.....
The field in Rockford your thinking of is "Marinelli". A 'classic', old time venue!!

Ive put my vote in for Jackhammers Stadium.
I heard last night that Montini will be playing Wilmington there this spring. Wilmington is the Class A state champs. Ill try to get to the OPRF / Fenwick game. Fenwick has John Glancy a great catcher. Im not sure what else. We all know what Oak Park has.

Jackhammer stadium will be the site of a summer tournament between some top programs. Lockport coach is putting it together. Should be a great weekend.
