I plan to take my '06 son to a PG event this year; however, I'm not sure which one to choose. We may not be able to attend more than one PG event. My son is home schooled and therefore does not get a chance to play HS ball, so I initially thought the Spring Top Showcase on 4/30-5/1 would be perfect; however, I spoke with a parent of a boy who attended last year's event and was told that there were not many scouts/coaches in attendance (makes sense since the college season is in full swing at that point). I'm considering the Academic Showcase in early June, but that is just after the start of my son's summer season. Do you think we should just wait until later in the summer and try to attend the Midwest Top Prospect in Sept (or is that too late in the year for an '06)? I appreciate your input (I've received good advice here in the past). Thanks.

MoDad...

Good question! Let me post a quote taken from Perfect Game's web site.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Perfect Game Baseball reports to all 30 Major League Scouting Departments (front office) and over 1,200 college programs. We have established a reputation for holding the best and largest scouting events in all of baseball. Perfect Game also works in partnership with Baseball America. We rank and write scouting reports on players in all 50 states, Canada and Latin America. Baseball America of course follows and covers Perfect Game events. Call Perfect Game immediately if you have interest in attending.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, after reading the above statement, if your not sure, read it again. Then pick up that telephone and call those folks at Perfect Game and discuss with them exactly what your looking for in a showcase for your son. Believe me, Mr. Ford and his staff will direct you in the best direction for your son's best interests.

Go to their web site www.perfectgame.org and thoroughly search through the past events and read about the results of many listed. You will be surprised in what you can learn by spending some time browsing through their site.

Our son has been to three PG events and we were very pleased after attending each one. Not only was the exposure and experience very good, it was FUN. We learned and took away something from each showcase that will be forever remembered.

Best wishes to your son in his athletic dreams.
