Question: Is it true that a pitcher can't wear white spikes while pitching if the rest of his team wears black spikes?

That rule came into affect this summer with my team. I was looking for a way to get the opposing pitcher out of his groove and I noticed that...

Is there a rule about this...? Confused

Interesting series of events....

On the white shoes example....there is this rule in MLB

1.11
(a) (3) No player whose uniform does not conform to that of his teammates shall be permitted to participate in a game.

However, applying that to the color of the shoes in a summer ball situation is reaching. In most summer leagues you often see multi color shoes from players from differnet HS teams. I think the umpire who ruled out the white shoes was being overly officious. I would not hold shoe color against the pitcher.

The uniform rule is more aptly applied to higher level ball than HS.

On wearing a white long sleeve undershirt to pitch......not legal, take it off.

Batting gloves in the back pocket if determined to be a distraction by the umpire can be removed.

Hope this helps.
