I'm curious to find out a little more about the websters' sons that are getting paid to play. Of course, we all know Zach and OPP, but who are the others (if you care to share). I'd like to be able to bookmark the names on minorleaguebaseball.com so I can keep up with the progress (and maybe watch them since I live in a town with a high A team).

infielddad - Jason Armstrong, Blue Jays organization.
PGStaff - Ben Ford, Brewers organization (has been to the "show" a few times...rehabbing from injury).
Fungo - Josh Bell, Blue Jays organization.
FutureBack.Mom - A. J. Shappi, Diamondbacks organization.
BigHit15 - Eric Ridener, Pirates organization.
NVR1 - Steve Lerud, Pirates organization.
Racab - Marcos Cabral, Marlins organization.

I also think "Orioles42?" has a son in the Orioles organization.

These were the ones I know of...undoubtedly there are more.

I guess we can all help out on this one Smile

orioles42's son is Brandon Conway and he is in the National's organization.

njbb's son is Chris McConnell who is in the Kansas City organization.

VaDad's son I believe is in the Diamondback's organization (someone help me out with this one).

Shane Funk (AHSpitcher17) is in the Rangers organization.

I am sure more will come to me. Hope everyone can help fill this thread up because it would be interesting to see how many members sons are in the pros. Please forgive me if I have made any typos in the names above - just trying to help Smile
Thanks CD....

Let me explain. Years ago when I first moved into the area, the only team in town was the orioles. Orioles42 was my handle in AOL. In 2004 when Brandon was drafted, I became a permanent Nationals fan but decided to keep the orioles42 handle. Wink

Now I will go one further and say that I grew up at Forbes field (Pirates), I was born and raised in that area and watched the great one play many games. So underneath I guess I am still a closet buco's fan. Big Grin

Confusing I know, but my entire story and I am sticking to it.

NVR1 - Steve Lerud, is in pro ball.

Also I believe Chris Nelson (Rockies) parents and maybe even Dexter Fowler (Rockies) parents are, or have been, contributors.

Chris Lubanski’s dad Wally (don’t remember screen name) (Royals)

Eddy Martinez Esteve is in Pro Ball (Giants?) maybe.

There are many others, I'll add them here as I think of them.
Great list!!

Wonder how many different schools are represented. I bet we have a very good cross section of all divisions.

If we all gave a report on each school oue sons attend, we could have one heck of a report for kids seeking information on schools from kids and parents that actually have first hand knowledge.
Since we are piling the work on Julie, i was hoping for seeing the progression by putting the college attended before the pros, like Fungo's son went to Auburn then to the Blue Jays, by filling the college part as well members could follow the path taken. If they took the direct route , it would be noted by the blank college slot. Then when questions arose of maybe a private discussion, it would be better defined which poster to seek out for definative knowledge. As I did with TPM when son was recruited.

Just curious.... our 15 year old is a serious catcher, hoping to play varsity as a catcher this year (starting catcher as a freshman on jv last year) and hopes to play somewhere in college... he is short only 5'4" at 15 years old, but very stocky and strong... what are the odds if he has the desire??? Thanks for the response....
There are exceptions for those with determination and hustle.

Can give two examples right off top of my head.
Tommy Campbell at Mercer University in late 70s and Rob Fitzpatrick/GSU, late 80s who were a little taller but not much-lol

Both were scouted heavily and believe the later Rob F. got a cup of coffee in the Big Leagues.

Tell your son to be the very best he can be and never surrender.

I'm not,

IMO. He is only 15. Dont worry about height.

It matters little in college baseball.

(It matters alot if his goal is to be on the cover of Baseball America magazine.)

Tell him to keep working on improving his skills - keep getting stronger - and always play with passion.

With that - and his Mom and Dad helping him get the proper exposure - the rest will take care of itself.
