I was thinking about voting for Soxnole and Beenthere because they would bring the "Winning" Tradition of the sox with them, but of course there is no such tradition. Besides beenthere is really a closet cub fan going back to the days of Fondy, Hartnett, Hack Wilson and of course the trio of Tinkers, Evers and Chance....so he won't add anything new.

Let's bring in Cuban...he understands that there is no such thing as reason when it comes to paying and bringing in the best talent. Just get the players and the management to win and that's all that matters.
I would like the Maloof Brothers to buy the Cubbies but they would likely want to move them to Vegas...where the rest of the "losers" are. (lololol)

No actually, I think they would be terrific owners.

Best of all would be Mark Cuban...He has the money and he's a "fan of the game".

Anyone would be better than what the Tribune has done.

Their ace (Zambrano) got beat today....was waiting for an emotional meltdown too. He's matured, though. Happy for him.

Can the Cubs go 16 (Zambrano's wins) and 146?

-----

Sox just stunk up the place. They might go 95-67.

Playing in October.

Go White Sox.

Cuban would be a good selection as owner. Whom ever does eventually purchase the team will have to pay top dollar. Let's face the facts, the Cubs will always be the number 1 team in Chicago. I heard the Sox are going back to their old days where they put tickets on car windows hoping people attend Sox games. If that doesn't work they can always have an extra game or two during the season where you bring your pet to the games. What a promotion! Did you see some of the women that attend Sox games. People didn't know if it was the wife or the pet in attendence. I think some of the husbands were trying to get the 2 for 1 deal at the gate.
Those "pets" were female impersonator's visiting from wrigleyville.

The entire neighborhood visits Comiskey often, they feel the need to watch men in tight pants when their beloved cubbies are out of town!

The flyers on the cars "Boy's Town is 71 blocks north" were from the south side sox fans reminding that crowd to stay home and out of their 750,000.00 neighborhood!
If that crowd at Jimbo's yesterday is an example of the people that live in your $750,000 neighborhood, I'll guess that they must have pooled their funds and built themselves one hell of a nice trailer. The Schlitz and Blatz was flowing like water.

buntandrun, I like the fact that you brought some new material to this ageless debate. You're to be commended. Soxnole, same old same old homophobic bit, but I did force a little chuckle with the "pets" comment. Nice touch.
Itsrosy, I received atleast 10 other PM's from people cracking up over the post. Let's face it, there is alot of garbage that visits White Sox games. Those women or pets were probably relatives of those two idiots that jumped onto the field at Cell Block Stadium and attacked Gamboa the 1st Base Coach of the Royals a few years ago. Most people that attend White Sox games belong on the Jerry Springer show. Soxnole, you know that but the truth must hurt. The women in the bleachers at Wrigley are the best. The women at Sox games are southside pets. I even think Hawk commented on one of the women at a game one night on pet night. He thought she got in for free on bring your pet to the game night. The Sox don't care they just hope someone attends their game. Smoke pot, bring ugly people with you, terrible promotions, and they still can't pack the park. The reference to the free tickets on car windows is just one of many gimmicks that the Sox organization has to resort to.
Itsrosy, well said in regards to the so called $750,000 neighborhood. Soxnole, is this so called area that you speak of between the 31st and 35th street viaducts where people have to cut off the legs from their kitchen table to beat up people coming and going to the Sox Field? Jimbo's is one of many neighborhood watering holes with Schlitz, Flagstaft, and Hamms specialties on tab. I heard they run for .50 cents a glass. What do you expect? It's not the high class caliber area of the Northside.
As I've said before elsewhere on this site...to have your team earn a championship is a wonderful feeling and all of the hoopla is a lot of fun...I sincerely wish that dedicated fans from any team playing any sport have the opportunity to experience that. And that includes Cub fans.

So long as it doesn't come at the expense of the White Sox, I do wish that good Cub fans, such as yourself, get to savor a World Championship.
OK, dorkboy cubbie dudes!

Last year the Trib and Sun Times did a demographic survey on the Chicago baseball fan.

The results for income, education and virtually every category were exactly the same.

If you like bleacher drunks, shootings just outside the ballpark, female impersonators and a San Francisco like atmosphere while walking 5 blocks from your parking space...your a cub fan.

If you like superior baseball, wonderful food and a place to park...your one of the good guys!
I think my last post said it all in regards to the culture around Cell Block field. People cutting off the legs on their kitchen tables to attack people going to the Sox games. Maybe that's one of many reasons nobody attends Sox games. Let's not even try to compare the high class people that attend games at Wrigley compared to the garbage that vists Cellular Field. Not to mention the "pets" that attend games on the southside. It's always been said you take your life in your own hands when attending Sox games. Even the "Hawk" the Sox announcer has stated that fact throughout the years. Wrigley has been a landmark for people to visit from all around the country. When people visit Chicago one of the first things they say is, are the Cubs in town and that they need to go see a game at Wrigley Field. They never say are the Sox in town and we need to go see a game at Cellblock Field where drug users jump onto the field and attack 60 year old first base coaches. Although if you want a watered down .50 cent beer Jimbo's is one of many watering holes on the southside to visit. Even as a Cub fan I wish the Sox the best of luck this year and the Sox do have some good fans. The point is let's not even try to compare Wrigley Field and all it's glory to Comiskey or Cellular Field. The comparison isn't even close. 9 out of 10 people would rather go to see a game at Wrigley Field over a game at Cellular Field.
If the cubs were bought by an individual owner who wanted to move them, wouldn't that be the dumbest move ever, i mean yes he would make a ton of money from vegas but the cubs are one of the most well known organizations in the world and have if not the most historic park. i think that if the moment he would say that they would be moving, he would be shot by a die hard. i think it would be the worst idea ever if the buyer moves them to vegas.

2006 Chicago White Sox home attendance: 2,957,414 average of 36,511 "nobody"s per game.

Not if they want to see Championship Baseball.

Yeah...I know what you're talking about. It's especially scary walking west of the viaduct on 35th St...that's where the Minuteman gang hangs out...yikes!

I think the Cubs had more fans in Cincinnati at the game tonight than the Sox had this afternoon at their home game. The Sox had an incredible 2005 season but things are starting to get back to normal on the southside. Attendance will again be at the bottom on the southside and the Sox will have to fight for 3rd or 4th place this season in the AL Central. Ozzie has already started to rip into his pitchers and it's only two games into the season. Somebody on this board a month or two ago pointed out what a cry baby and big mouth Ozzie is. Garland and a few of the other players will probably knock the **** out of the Manager by June. If they don't maybe those drug users in the stands that attacked the Royals 1st base cocah a few years ago can take care of it. The Sox will be lucky to finish 81-81 this year.
Goodwoodforsale, I think the people that cut off the legs from their kitchen tables to attack people going to the game is the real concern before making it safely to the parking lot. What an area! I'm really surprised Hawk wasn't fired or attacked a few years back when he ripped on the neighborhood around Sox park on a radio show. Atleast the one good thing about the parking at Sox games is, on most nights good parking spots are always available. When you don't have a packed house there is always room in the lots. The Sox first sell out of this season will be when Chicago's team the Cubs come to town in June.
Bunt...Obviously, you haven't been around this site for too long.

The issue of fan attendance is a non-issue.

The surprising thing is that the Cub fans are starting to talk about the attendance with only 2-3 games in the book.

$300 million spent in the off season; ace gets smoked in the first game and does a mini-hissy fit...Cubs are now 1-2.

Three games into the season and you've given up. Something that White Sox fans don't do.

Go White Sox.
Beenthere, the issue of camparing Wrigley Field to the Sox parks is really the non-issue. Attendance was just a small topic of this conversation. Wrigley Field is a landmark and will be around forever. Comiskey Park made it to the mid 90's and nobody misses it. As for Zambrano getting rocked in the opener. I would hardly call that outing getting rocked. Contreres on the other hand was rocked in his opening start. The fact of the matter is Zambrano hasn't won his opening start of the year for four straight years now. I think he's rebounding well and gotten over that first start each year to have a big season. This year will be no different. Zambrano will win 16 to 20 games and have one of the top ERA's in the league. Can you say the same for any of the White Sox starters? The Cubs will contend all season and Z will be a big reason why. The Sox on the other hand have major issues in the starting rotation. I will say though, the Sox bullpen has pitched well in the last two games and may be beter then alot of people think this year.
An early prediction. For the first time this week, the Cubs and Sox will both win on the same day. Both teams will improve their records to 2-2 tonight. Rich Hill will show that he will be one of the top left handed pitchers in the NL this year and the Sox will beat Carlos Silva a very over rated starting pitcher tonight. Both teams better win tonight because Ben Sheets and Johan Santana will be on the mound over the weekend.
