You do have a good point, but I do think that there are a lot of guys in the show that can throw 90 plus, but are more effective at 85-88. Now the 90 plus and being tall will get you a look, but you have to do something with that. Tony Fiore threw 90 plus when he was at Triton, but didnt have much of an idea where it was going, he had one of the best years we have seen from a reliver in a long time throwing mid 80's and getting guys out on changeups. Baseball is not like football and basketball where size dominates, I am a firm believer that the talent level between some d1/d3 schools isnt very far apart, d1 schools may have more depth and guys that throw harder, and thats because d1 stresses size, someone made a comment that Illinois had to many 5'10 175 kids, well if that kid is more talented then the 6'3 210 kid, whats the difference. IWU and the CCIW has been one of the best d3 conferences around, and IWU beating ISU shows something, that you can have all the 6'3 players and guys that throw 90 you want, but baseball isnt that...its being able to get people out and execute. yes there are a lot of guys that get the cold shoulder from d1 schools because they are 5'9 or throw 85, but it doesnt mean they cant compete at that level. I always use Drew Dickenson as my example, walk on redshirt at Illinois, assistant saw something in him that everyone overlooked because he didnt break 80, they gave him a **** and he became one of the most decorated pitchers in recent time, and the A's took a shot on him because of the sucess he had, he led the big ten in k's for 2 years, which is the most impressive thing to me. So yes throwing 90 plus and being the prototypical size player will get you looks, but it doesnt guarntee anything, and that people shouldnt overlook the 85 mph guy or the 5'10 shortstop!

Original post was about 82-83 mph. Even though there might not be much of a difference between 82-83 and 85-88, pitching wise it is a huge difference. JMO which isn't worth much.
