Never thought I'd say it...I'm a UGA alumna working at UF.
Roll Tide!
Roll Tide!
Not a big fan of either, but I've always thought Texas has the best uniforms in college football.

Roll Tide.....
Not a fan of either one but I dislike Texas more for some reason. So......roll.....tide????
I just hope it's a good game.
I just hope it's a good game.
We can only hope that the game is as good as the other bowls preceding it this year
piaa-ump,
Knew there was something that made your judgement calls better than other umps.
War Eagle!!! Class of '78 (shoulda been '77 but I had some fun along the way).
And....roll tide ( Booo Hisss!) Gotta support the SEC even if it hurts ( and it is killing me). LOL.

2Bmom,
Personally, I'd slit my wrists...LOL.
Grew up in Gainesville; sold Cokes at Florida Field as a kid, have a Spurrier chinstrap from his Heisman year and rung that old stupid victory bell a few times (that may be gone now). No AC in the house but never bothered us kids. Closest McDonalds was in Ocala.

Texas all the way baby!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it! I was getting my undergrad degree at UGA while Spurrier was coach at UF. I still feel a particular glee when his teams lose.
I had to go to the UF museum website to find a picture of the victory bell!
Bama; cuz it's fun to say Bama.
2Bmom,
That picture sure brings back some memories. I remember (barely) when there were metal bleachers at each endzone. Certainly no upper deck; Ray Graves was the coach back then.
UF used to a have a real (though unofficial probably) alligator over by the old animal research buildings where they had white rats, etc. with electrodes in their head ( no lie; neighbor worked for UF with the rats and took us kids in on the weekends). Believe he was named Albert (not Elvis like on Miami Vice tv series). Would be very suprised if you could find any record of it. Pretty good sized gator.
Used to make about $30-40 per UF game selling Cokes until the 4th quarter; then all the little kids would be jockeying for pole position when we would run out of the field begging for chinstraps, elbow pads, etc. at the end of the game. Not bad money back in the early-mid '60s.
UGA grad working at UF....bet your sorority sisters have disowned you. LOL. Do you still even own any black/red clothing or have you gone over to The Dark Side?

I don't want to hijack Good Eye's thread any more, so suffice it to say...
Go Dawgs!
Also, there are several gators in the waterways on campus. The mascot, Albert, must be named after your gator!

No worries 2BMOM!!!

This Longhorn Fan looks ready!
Good-eye,
From one SEC fan to another, all due apologies for the hijacking.
And from one Tiger to another... Mike (your mascot) may be the coolest mascot of the SEC bunch. That tiger was something to see; hope he's still around. Hope so, losing a tiger would be much worse than losing a dog (apologies to 2Bmom).
Still have an old LSU sweatshirt that I got from a LSU ballplayer in a swap for my Auburn A.D. sweatshirt.
Bama ( Booo Hisss!) at QB is better than most think and I think will suprise Texas. McCoy will have to have a good game tonight for Texas to win; if he does the Nebraska replay Texas is dead.

I guess when you fly to town all the way from 'cold as flint' Flint,MI, where it's maybe Fahrenheit 9 or 11, then you deserve to let loose and follow your urge to let the world document your dazzling good looks!

In honor of fair play, 'Bama does have that cup holder thing going for them.
THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!!!
I grew up a big Bear Bryant fan so Im pulling for Bama. Mack had the Tar Heels going really good before he bolted for Texas. I can't say I blame him thats one of the top programs in the nation. So I am pulling for Bama and hoping for a great game. I do like Colt alot. He seems like one heck of a young man. So Colt has a great game and my new favorite player Mark Ingram goes off as well and rushes for 300. And the Tide wins on the last play of the game by one point.
A good game.
Are ya'll ready for some football!
Here are some ready fans!
Here is who I pick!
This took me 10 minutes!
This took me 10 minutes!
I'm rooting for abc to replace Brent Musburger.
Infield08 I'm glad that pic of the female Tide fan wasn't a pic of a male Tide fan bottomless. I don't care if it was painted to look like an elephant's trunk it would still be messed up.
I don't like either team. Rooting for a tie after 10 overtimes. BCS declares an official tie and elevates Boise State to #1 & National Champ.
Oh, no. McCoy is out!
Crazy start. Fake punt? He intercepts it and falls down instead of knocking it down on 4th down? Colt gets hurt on the first series? This might be a crazy one cause it sure has started out that way.
And now we have this? Wow!
Bama is hurting themselves...but it's still early...
They got two things going for them right now. Its early. And Colt is hurt. Outside of that they are stinking it up so far.
I am not for either team but I do have enormous dislike for Nickie, is anyone surprised they took Colt down?
Saban feels like this...
Ingram runs HARD!
this thing is goint to be a war....hang on...folks
anyone think Colt will be back in the game???
Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong night for Texas I'm afraid without McCoy!
I hope Texas has a DEEP bench of QB's!
I hope Texas has a DEEP bench of QB's!
Let's see what the young freshman QB can do!
Sheesh, I am on record predicting Texas, difference in game being the top QB in the college game. That difference lasted one possession.
Looks like you called it...YGD...a loooooooooong night for the horns....
It's not over yet GOOD EYE you sound like Taylor!
Rooooooooolll Tide
60 minutes!
Dadgumit he missed it!
Driller Man...are you watching the same TV set that Taylor and Good-Eye are wathcing...YGD called the match up...Loooooooooooonnnnngggg night ahead.....
Your just mad because your Tigers are at home!
there is always next year...
YEP!
Was that a stand!
dm...you have a pm
Colt is in the locker room getting his mister gadget bionic man arm implant!
we have the technology...we can rebuild him...
Ouch
This is great. I don't like AL, but I hate TX. I can hear Don Meredith singing.
.
I love seeing a big ol' defensive lineman scoring an occasional touchdown. That will be the highlight of his entire career most likely!

No. Mad at Saban for his stint with the Dolphins, he's a liar, I don't trust liars.
I agree TPM!

This game may have been closer with McCoy, but I think the result would have been the same. Alabama has a better O-line, better D and Ingram.
The SEC is just too good in preparing for the title game.
It is not over yet though, so we shall see.
TPM, I don't think they were going after McCoy to get him out, just playing good defense.

Is Lee Corso hammered?
I hate it for Colt and Texas. Its a shame he got hurt. But injuries are part of the game. Would the outcome have been different? The final score no doubt. The outcome? We will never know. Mark Ingram looks awesome , so determined and strong. I dont see Texas coming back in this one. But we will see.
It's truly a pity that McCoy is out. A HUGE loss to Texas - both offensively and psychologically.
Ingram is unbelievable, especially given the fact that he's a sophomore. Since I never watch SEC football, this is my first opportunity to see him, and I can understand why he won the Heisman. Quite impressive!

You think Mack Brown might like to replay some of those blowout wins this season when he left McCoy in the game late instead of giving the frosh QB some real playing time? Time to pay the piper now......
Whatever did happen to giving guys experience by playing them in blowouts? This guy got 26 snaps all year? I bet they wish they would have handled it differently.
I think it was 26 passes all year in a season with 8 wins by more than 4 TDs when you have one of the best defenses in the country. I would say Mack has some explaining to do.
His receivers sure aren't helping him any tonite!
I just went into our base Burger King (it's Friday lunchtime here) and the place is packed with soldiers watching the game. Of course we have a lot of uniformed personnel who are from SEC-land AND Texas, so it makes for some good audience reparte`!
Don't mean to open a can of worms but wouldn't it be nice if Boise State got a shot at the winner of this game?
That was a nice pass!!!
That was a nice pass!!!
It sure would deldad.
This is where your Heisman Trophy winner earns his scholarship. Up 11 with a quarter to go.
They better quit sitting on this lead or they are going to be in trouble.
Did Ingram get hurt? Did I miss it?
Cramps. They said he is trying to get hydrated.
It's a good thing McElroy has Ingram and that other RB because he's not that good with pressure. He gets that deer caught in the headlight look and doesn't make the intermediate and deep throws very well.
The Texas QB is starting to settle into a nice groove as well. I agree with you guys that he should have had more snaps this year. That's all Mack Brown's fault.

I would have punted there. Gave them the ball in good field position. I would rather be up 11 and give the freshman an 80 or 90 yard field.
When a guy is up for the Heisman like Colt was, I guess you are hesitant to pull him for anything.
Plus under the current system how bad you beat someone matters so Colt was in to run up some scores also.
What I find more surprising is that on a team such as Texas and being in the state of Texas, that the backup QB is a freshman.
Ha!
You guys gave up toooo easily. It's anyones game now!
Go Texas, beat Saban!

Their backup was Sneed...who started at Ole Miss and just declared for the draft. He didn't like being a backup to McCoy so he transferred. And, Sneed is a Texas boy...as is Alabama's QB. Texas QBs are everywhere...they just don't want to hang around and be backups (or wideouts) at Texas.
Thanks TX HUSKER
This has turned out to be a game after all!
why this time out?
This is the game right here.
Dayum!
Pretty Amazing!
Imagine where this game would be if Texas could have scored a TD on either or both of the first possessions of the game when they got field goals?
Yep. Alot of strange things happened in this one. The fake punt? Colt getting hurt. The young QB from Texas got some invaluable experience thats for sure. Too bad he had to get it like this.
Good game, and I agree very strange.
I really liked McCoy's interview right there at the end. Showed a lot of love for the game / team and class and character in how he answered the questions.
I'm really wondering about his injury though. I'm not calling him out because he got hit by a really big boy. I know if I would have got hit like that by him I would curl up in the fetal position and cry like a baby but it didn't look like a hit that would have injured him. Like he said he's taken a hit like that many times. Wonder what was so different about that one?

Give it to Bama for their win...
Rivals.com first preseason top twenty-five ....
1. Alabama
BUZZ: The Tide will return numerous key offensive players off this season's title team, but coaches will need to replace seven defensive starters. Will there be a drop-off? And can the Tide make it two in a row?
2. Ohio State
BUZZ: The non-conference schedule isn't that daunting, and if coach Jim Tressel loosens the reins on the offense - as he did in the Rose Bowl - the Buckeyes should cruise to the Big Ten title. DE Cameron Heyward's decision to stay in school is an important one for Ohio State.
3. Oregon
BUZZ: QB Jeremiah Masoli and RB LaMichael James will return and they'll get to run behind a veteran line. The defense should be better, too.
4. Boise State
BUZZ: The Broncos have key non-conference games against Oregon State and Virginia Tech. If they win both, they could return to Glendale, Ariz. - but this time for the national title game.
5. USC
BUZZ: Coaching rumors aside, the Trojans will have the talent to get back on top in the Pac-10. A young defense this season will be an experienced defense next season.
6. TCU
BUZZ: The Frogs must replace standout DE Jerry Hughes, star LB Daryl Washington and CBs Rafael Priest and Nick Sanders, but TCU always finds a way to put together a quality defense. That TCU returns the vast majority of its 2009 offense suggests the Frogs could sail through the regular season unbeaten again
7. Nebraska
BUZZ: Coach Bo Pelini has said he thinks the 2010 team will be better than the 2009 team. Given the state of the Big 12 next season, that means the Huskers easily could go into the season as the league favorite.
8. Texas
BUZZ: Replacing Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley is going to be impossible. But the defense should be stout, and perhaps McCoy's departure will provide the impetus to establish a solid rushing attack.
9. Wisconsin
BUZZ: RB John Clay's decision to remain in school was a boost to the Badgers' Big Ten hopes in 2010. QB Scott Tolzien should be better, and the offensive line will be a team strength. The defense should be one of the best in the Big Ten.
10. Florida
BUZZ: Urban Meyer's future remains up in the air. But even without Tim Tebow, Brandon Spikes, Joe Haden and the other departing stars, the Gators have a ton of talent. And who in the SEC is going to challenge them?
11. Virginia Tech
BUZZ: The presence of RBs Ryan Williams and Darren Evans and QB Tyrod Taylor in the backfield should give the Hokies one of the nation's most fearsome rushing attacks. The loss of DE Jason Worilds from a defense that already had to fill plenty of holes is worrisome, but if the Hokies are unbeaten after knocking off Boise State on Oct. 2, they could jump into the national title picture.
12. Oklahoma
BUZZ: The Sooners suffered though Landry Jones learning on the job this season. They will benefit from that next season. Plus, the offensive line should be much improved.
13. Pittsburgh
BUZZ: Dave Wannstedt and Pittsburgh was a win away from a BCS bid in 2009. RB Dion Lewis will be a candidate to be the fourth consecutive sophomore to win the Heisman. The Panthers need to replace some key players on defense - both tackles, a couple of veteran linebackers and CB Aaron Berry - but the Panthers should be the preseason favorite in the conference.
14. Iowa
BUZZ: The Hawkeyes should be fine everywhere - except perhaps the offensive line, where four starters have to be replaced. QB Ricky Stanzi must curb his penchant for throwing interceptions. The defense will be strong again, especially if CB Amari Spievey stays for his senior season.
15. Georgia Tech
BUZZ: The Yellow Jackets won the ACC title with only six scholarship seniors, but WR Demaryius Thomas likely won't be the only Georgia Tech underclassman to enter the draft. Paul Johnson faces a big hire as he attempts to replace fired defensive coordinator Dave Wommack because Georgia Tech won't make a serious run at the national title until it upgrades its defense.
16. LSU
BUZZ: The coaching staff will be under the gun next season. The offense has a lot of room for growth, especially the offensive line, which was the biggest problem this season.
17. North Carolina
BUZZ: When six junior starters announced that they planned to return, it assured that the Tar Heels would head into 2010 as a popular sleeper pick for a BCS run. UNC should boast one of the nation's top defenses next season, but the Tar Heels must make significant improvements to their dormant offense.
18. Miami
BUZZ: The Hurricanes were seen as a potential preseason top-10 team until they closed 2009 with a poor performance in a Champs Sports Bowl loss to Wisconsin. Miami's chances of contending for an ACC title depend on whether Jacory Harris can reduce his interception total and the Hurricanes upgrade their offensive line.
19. Connecticut
BUZZ: The Huskies finished 8-5 for the second consecutive season, but they were awfully close to a major breakthrough. None of the losses were by more than four points. If the Huskies can turn those close losses into narrow victories, as they did over the last month of the season, Connecticut could contend for the Big East title in 2010. The Huskies must replace leading receiver Marcus Easley, Big East sack leader Lindsey Witten and two starting defensive backs.
20. Oregon State
BUZZ: The Rodgers brothers will be back and the offense will be a good one as long as the Beavers can find a competent quarterback. The defense should be one of the best in the Pac-10, as the Beavers lose just one starter.
21. Houston
BUZZ: QB Case Keenum and all his skill-position playmates will be back, which means averaging 50 points per game is a legit goal. But unless the defense makes massive improvement, scoring 50 points might be what it takes to win games.
22. Utah
BUZZ: The return of QB Jordan Wynn and 1,000-yard rusher Eddie Wide should give Utah a potent offense. A challenging non-conference schedule includes a home game with Pittsburgh and a trip to Notre Dame, but Utah does have the benefit of playing TCU and BYU at home next season.
23. Arkansas
BUZZ: Aside from Alabama, the SEC West looks to be wide-open. For the Hogs to take advantage, though, QB Ryan Mallett and the defense must improve.
24. Penn State
BUZZ: Replacing QB Daryll Clark will be Job One in spring practice. RB Evan Royster's decision to stay in school is important, and there should be a nice receiving corps and an OK offensive line. The defense has some holes to fill, but it's hard to imagine Penn State having a mediocre defense.
25. Cincinnati
BUZZ: Butch Jones succeeded Brian Kelly at Central Michigan and won two MAC championships in three years. Could the same happen here? Jones inherits backup QB Zach Collaros, who is a dual-threat similar to the Chippewas' Dan LeFevour. The defense will have to rebuild again - Cincinnati loses six seniors, including FS Aaron Webster - but it can't be much worse than it was in 2009.
1. Alabama
BUZZ: The Tide will return numerous key offensive players off this season's title team, but coaches will need to replace seven defensive starters. Will there be a drop-off? And can the Tide make it two in a row?

The buzz in Alabama is unbelievable. The 95,000 fans that showed up for an "A-Day" practice game were unrealistically willing to give Saban 4 or 5 years for the "process" to win a national championship. He did it in 3, and now they're discussing a statue for the man in front of Bryant/Denny stadium.
