I'm cheering for the Cubbies to get into 1st place...Only chance they have with the Cardinals now on their heels and the Brewers at the top.

I'm happy for them, but I think they'll do their "foldo" act from mid-August into September.

I hear 'ya about the Brewers, but the Cardinals aren't winning anything this year. Carpenter now out for at least a year with TJ surgery.

Itsrosy, as a die hard Cardinal's fan, it was over before now. When you win the World Series, get all of that revenue bonus for the playoffs and World Series and then forego signing 3/4ths of your starting staff, you're asking for trouble. Then, take your #1 and have him get injured. Well, it is typical for the Cardinals to be down by 2-3 after the 1st inning. No, I don't believe that they will make a run this year. However, I still turn them on every night and watch. I suspect that Cardinal's management knows that I'm not alone and so, I don't anticipate any attempts to sign anyone. Sadly, many Cardinal's fans will judge this season not on the fact that we won't defend our title, but rather on the fact that we finished below the Cubs in the standings.
Beenthere,

I just finished watching the Sox vs Sox game and even this Cub fan was almost angry at the job your manager did tonight. The defensive alignment craziness was insane and hung Contreras out to dry. Then, when it was obvious to me that Contreras was spent in the 8th, he left him out there to get torched. If I'm KW I'd be livid right now. How can you expect to trade this guy when your manager doesn't protect him and puts him in a situation where the Bosox score 10? Ozzie seemed too stubborn to put in a reliever and saw his starter get an unnessasary beatdown. JMO.

Saturday, 5:30PM. OK, now I see maybe why OG can't go to his bullpen.

CUBS - CARDINALS - This week!!! While many fans across America do not understand the intensity of this heated rivalry, folks in these parts are chomping at the bit. (Of course we're going to throw the Kipper at them and so, ...)

I over heard one sports talk personality state that if we can go .500 this week with the Cubs and Brewers in town, we should consider that we won. Hey buddy, we're behind meeting the two teams ahead of us. If we don't make up ground now, get ready for a looooong September.
Thank you Holden Caufield,

Are you guys for real? If I say that KW is a big boy and can own up for this mess of a team that's out there, is that racist also? Sox, so you like Kenny Williams as your GM, that's you're right of course. I've said before that I was a Danny Evans guy and still am. Currently with the Mariners I believe.

And Soxnole, you've got an unusually hard bite to your posts. Chill a little, FSU baseball starts in a month or so. Enjoy.

Rosy,

S maybe it isn't a coincidence that you always jump in on the other side of my posts. Don't build a straw man argument. I have read your posts and never said anything about your opinions of KW.

TR accentuated the word with parenthsis ("boy"), for no apparent reason. My inference was reasonable. didn't call him a racist, I asked a question about the reference. You chill.
To get back on topic after this page of drivel, big win for the Cubs in St. Louis tonight. Once again, Zambrano gives you everything he's got, Ramirez is just a hitting machine and Lou is pressing all the right buttons in the bullpen. Key to this bullpen has been the work of Carlos Marmol. If Dusty was still around, who knows where this kid would be pitching?

Nice double-dip for the Southsiders also. Maybe this will loosen them up a little and they can get on a little roll. JMO.
Gentlemen

If you want to take what I posted as a racist statement then it shows your ignorance---number one if you knew me, which none of you are even close to, you would know there is not a racist bone in my body--

Where I come from the term "boy" means favorite or pet---your small minds can continue to wander all the back roads you like and I will stay on my highway---\

BTW--Cubs are but 3.0 games back in the division and 1.5 back in the wild card as of this morning
We had a moderators discussion over this topic last night....

A couple of thoughts....

TR and soxnole - please let the back and forth stuff go. We all know there is no love lost between the two of you.

baseballdad1954 - The best we can tell, nobody has appointed you the arbiter of political correctness on the hsbbweb. In fact, there has been nothing to arbitrate. Several times over the past few weeks you have suggested racism or anti-semitism when there was none. Please cease and desist with these type of accusations or inuendos.

The other thing is the harsh tone in your writing. Often times you make fine points but you sometimes come across as mean-spirited. Posting here is a privilege and not a right. Please keep that in mind in the future - thank you.
CD

If I am called a racist on here or any other forum or website I will protect myself---I pride myself on my openmindedness and if I cannot defend myself when small minds want to defame then I might have to move on or simply retire

The problem is that Sox and Cub fans cannot discuss the baseball situations civilly

If you want to discuss this privately please feel free to phone me

If ever there was an arbitrary/random remark made to stir up trouble, this is it. bballdad, that was a ridiculous, petty statement/question and you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Have you ever been to one of TR's showcases, or seen the makeup of his tournament teams? Looks like the United Nations out there. He truly cares about each and every one of these kids no matter what their nationality, and it shows in his dealings with them. You're pathetic, you owe him an apology
Gentlemen:

Please read the posts prior to the total BS that either bballdad or I called Mr. Perfect a racist.

I'll be glad to spare all of you any future angst by leaving you with this dad gum fool to deal with.

By the way, to defend the use of "boy" in the context that Mr. Perfect used it is ignorant. Any well educated individual should understand that.

It was WRONG and will alway's be wrong. It doesn't mean he is a racist, just ignorant of what went on in this country for 200+ years.

rosy, I'm a little surprised that you don't get that.

Bye Bye gents.
