Placido Polanco, a very good player, gets injured for the Tigers. Leland has to play Ivan Rodriguez at 2nd base...Ivan has no clue.

What do the Cubs do? They trade Neifi Perez, a journeyman pro, but a nice everyday secondbaseman, to the Tigers.

Thanks, Jim Hendry. How have you helped YOUR team????????????????????????????

Any time you get rid of Neffi Perez, it is a good thing. The only way he helps the Tigers is if he is suddenly rejuvenated.

If the sox didn't want The Tigers to have him, why didn't they claim him before the Tigers? It had to be a waiver deal, right?

I don't know why sox fans would expect help from the Cub front office......all the condescending attitude in the last year or so. Wouldn't be surprised if the Cub brass has a laugh or two if Neffi indeed hurts the sox.

As a Cub fan, glad to see hin gone......Cedeno & Izturis should play all the time the rest of the way.
I wouldn't worry that neffi will hurt the sox they seem quite capable of hurting themselves this year with no outside help. Did anyone watch garcia pitch the other night, next time just put it on a tee for hunter. As much as I like the sox it is tough watching sometimes this year. They need to worry about their own game and intensity and not try to back their way in through injuries in detroit.
Beenthere,

You must be kidding. I've been in hibernation for a while, but when someone moans about a team getting Neifi Perez in a trade and thinks that will hurt the Sox's chances of catching the Tigers I've got to laugh. Neifi Perez, are you kidding me? You and Dusty must be the only two people in Chicago sorry to see him go. Also, fastball is 100% correct. He had to clear waivers and the Sox could have blocked the trade because they're below the Tigers in the standings. Kenny Williams must not be too concerned either. The fact that Perez has a contract guaranteed thru next season for some untold millions also makes finding a team willing to assume the $$$ almost unbelievable.

As for the catcher the Cubs got, if he is healthy and a real prospect, then Hendry did fine this time around.

Neifi is Crusty's Ramon Martinez replacement. If it's a position Neifi or Ramon plays and he's hot, let's say a 3/4 day then Crusty sits the starter the next day so momentum can be stopped and he can remain the manager that every player wants to play for. At least these guys were infielders and limited in their positions. When Crusty had Macias, Patterson got to sit after a big day with the game winning home run.
