Coaches,

What wiffles do you guys reccomend?

Through the years I've tried several different types and they all break a lot quicker than what I care for. I know these don't and won't last forever, but I'd like to think they shouldn't break within the first week. I wish I could say that it's because my guys swing so hard and are so strong, but that is NOT the case at all...sadly.

Thanks!

Rick are you asking about the name brand or size? I have always used the golf ball sized but don't have the slightest idea what the name brand is. I would order about 5 dozen each year and would just tell my sporting goods guy to just get me some.

We got our guys about 10 - 15 feet away and did a front toss. We aimed for hip to work on getting around on inside pitches. Then we throw about six inches off the outside part of plate to work on outside pitches.

I found some golf ball sized whiffles at Wal Mart that were much thicker than what we normally got. I thought they would hold out longer and they do but the only problem is they HURT like crazy when you get hit with them as a feeder. They would leave whelps on the skin when they got hit.

Probably doesn't help you any but I understand what you are saying about them not lasting.
Thanks fellas.

I was actually talking about baseball sized wiffles to do tee work off of when a cage isn't available. I should have been more clear.

We do use the golf ball sized for front/side toss as well.

Last year I bought 100 of the Jugs Bulldogs and they didn't make it through a month. Like all the rest of the wiffles on the market, they were suppose to be the toughest wiffles EVER....not so much though.

Maybe your guys do swing that hard because they are that strong LOL

We use the yellow dimple machine balls for Tee Work and soft toss. Or sometimes we just find the very old baseballs to use.

Our dimples also double as the balls we use on the parking lot when the field is under water.
