Have you guys been keeping up with match going on ESPN U right now? These two guys I've never heard of are in the middle of the longest match in Wimbledon history.

They started yesterday and got to the third set and had to suspend for darkness. They resumed today about 8 hours ago. Right now as of 3:55 ET they are in the fifth set and tied at 58. One guy is an American and not sure about the other one.

The names are Nicholas Mahut and the American is John Isner. Amazing to watch these two guys just compete. In the past half hour both guys have made diving attempts at shots.

I'm not a huge fan of tennis but I'm a fan of these two guys competitive spirit.

Match suspended due to darkness....again. So these two guys are tied in the fifth set at 59. They are going to play for a third day. Plus in this fifth set I don't think there have been many match points either. I know Isner was at his fourth one a few minutes ago and Mahmut smoked two Aces to get it back tied.

This is truly amazing.
I believe it was 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6 and then 59-59 in the fifth. That would be roughly 5 serves per service game with the equivalent of about 66 service games each today. That's 330 serves each and given the result most of them were probably first serves. I think they both have matched Scot Shields 258? pitch performance in college today.

One can probably be getting shoulder surgery while the other is getting elbow surgery. Then they can switch tables. Roll Eyes

BTW, Isner is a tall guy with a very impressive serve. I wonder who he's playing doubles with? Probably Sam Querry. He'll probably have to pull out of doubles.

Can you forsee the future? Have you placed a bet on this match yet?

Simple process really that involves a slide rule, abacus, protractor and a magic 8 ball. Once you put those together to find the coefficient of the tangent in the realm of arc of postulates then you can find the coflaguration of the isoceloses triangles. Once you do all that then you find the halfway point of the tennis match.

To give some idea...

The previous longest MATCH (5 sets) in Pro Tennis history was about 5 1/2 hours...

The last set (59-59 and unfinished) ALONE in this match was roughly 7 1/2 hours.

It is roughly the equivalent of two baseball teams playing 36 innings...and using the international tiebreaker (a man on second base every inning) every inning after the 9th.

This match is not improbable...it is impossible.
