Almost fell out of my chair tonight watching the Red Sox - Yankee game. There are now sommeliers at MLB ballparks??? What is this game coming to? No wonder I can't afford to go to an MLB game.

I have plenty of whine at baseball games.
The Dodgers and Angels have had wine for years. When I went to Candlestick I needed hot chocolate. I found there was often whine at preteen baseball games. It got better as the kids got older.
Mom is known to bring wine to kid's game, especially the double headers.
I love wine, buy it by the case, nothing like pasta, steak etc with a great red...not at freakin baseball WTF.

Is that what you other parents are doing while I'm chain smoking my Marlboro Reds in my truck in parking lot?
Thanks, I needed a reason to rekindle my hatred of the Yankees.
One of my good friends sat in those seats a week ago, and it's unlimited everything. Multiple food stations in the restaurant with fine cuisine. Top notch service. And so on.
It's a business environment: everyone is either in suits or business casual. Conference areas. It ain't the bleacher seats: this is Wall Street/Midtown business.
When you separate the business of baseball with the playing of baseball, it makes perfect sense. Serving wine or beer or bourbon is a money maker. Times have changed and these owners have to do whatever it takes to make a buck so they can turn around and buy that lucrative free-agent that puts butts in seats. The days of the family regularly going to an MLB ball park are over. These are the days of taking clients and business associates to baseball games and it is very profitable. Its not sad, it is reality.
As always JMO.
