Doc- Work your abs and your legs! Sit ups and squats can be done indoor and throughout the day. We have been working our son this winter with that and yesterday they had a tryout for a few spots on his team. The difference in just a few weeks was amazing! Quicker, harder throws and he hit the top of 12 ft high 270 ft. fence and he is just younger than you! Abs and legs, abs and legs, abs and legs
Doc , AKB can definitly empathize with you. I live in southern Ontario (almost sounds good)
What kind of baseball organizations do you have there ? The school gym or an indoor tennis/ soc*** dome is also a great place if they will let you use them. If you are throwing alone use some matts to throw at. I know some schools are tough due to insurance regs.
I went to university out east and had lots of buddies from Corner Brook.
If a young athlete likes to swim Ithinkit is OK. But to swim just to stay in shape is not on th etop of th elist for baseball players.

Swimming uses a great deal of internal rotation, the same as when a baseball is throw. Doing one movement over and over, without performing the antagonist movement, typically results in repetitive injuries such as tendonitis.

So if the athlete likes to swim I would let them, but be sure to monitor shoulder health and take a break if/when they act up.

Not a bad idea to perform external rotation work with bands or light weight as well.
