I agree. However, since it is the college offseason, it's often the best bet for those who didn't get what they wanted out of fall. My so is in a trap of sorts. There is a local academy running a December showcase that is, by far, the best attended in the area. I had planned to shut down my son for all of Nov, Dec, and half of January. However, three different schools that have shown interest have specifically told us they'd be at this December showcase with the HC and would like to see us there. So now, I'll need to gear him back up for a Dec 12 showcase.

Plenty of barns in the area, though. May have to requisition one.

Totally Understand what you are saying and you might have to put your eggs in summer baseball basket.  With that said....I remember reading an article in which Erik Bedard, from Canada, used a Chicken Farm in the off season.  The Indoor Barn was so big he had room to long toss and Throw Bullpens in.  Just a thought.

Speaking of winter showcases, we are going through the same situation.  Son planned on shutting arm down completely no throwing whatsoever until Thanksgiving however, son's Dream School texted him yesterday and told him they were having a camp the first week of December and they would love for him to come so they could evaluate him further.  Now, son is going to begin light tossing and steadily work his arm back into shape November 9.  Although it is not as long as planned, he will still have rested for 5 weeks.

Totally 100% agree with this assessment/philosophy/opinion.

IMHO pitchers should be take a good chunk of time off in the mid to late Fall and early winter.   Postion players are a different story entirely.
