greyhound - welcome to the hsbbweb Smile

If you go to the top of this page and select find, then type in Winthrop, and then go, you will pull up everything ever said about them which is about 80 posts. I suggest reading all of them.

Speaking for myself, I personally saw them play several games this year and I was hugely impressed with their talent. They had several players drafted this year and last year, plus they had the Big South freshman of the year/All-America sensation in Alex Wilson.
grey...My son was recruited for Mississippi State by Joe when he was a recruiter for the Bulldogs and before he got the Winthrop job.

He's had a fine career at Winthrop including the building of the new facility; and, a continuing national presence in the Top 25 in the past few years.

Recruits heavily in Canada, too.

Like the guy. Nice program.
From the outside, the program looks great. Unfortunately, the same can not be said from an insiders view. There were 17 or 18 players in the incoming class in the fall of 2004. Next year, there will be at most 2 remaining on the roster. Both assistant coaches have also departed. You can read between the lines. Top 2 pitchers this past season were seriously overused. Other than the #3 starter (who went down with an injury a little over halfway though the season), no other pitchers had definied roles.
