These schools each contacted the kid in the last couple of days, with very strong pitches for him to come play for them, not camp invitations, but language like "we think you would be a very strong addition to our program."  Neither school was previously on our radar though.  Does anybody have any thoughts on either?  Thanks for the input.

I do not know about Wisconsin Lutheran, But could you confirm which Trinity, There are several.

If it is the one in San Antonio Texas, you wont find a much better D3 baseball program in the country. They bring quite a few kids but most stick around. The best play. At least one poster on here has a son there. And another has a son who graduated from there.

They send kids to play in the NECBL and other good leagues in the summer.

Texas.  The one in San Antonio.  Good to hear.

Don't know much about W-L, but they are not a top D3 program from a baseball perceptive,. Believe it or not UW-Whitewater, UW- Steven Point field highly competitive baseball teams.

My son plays for Trinity so send me a PM and I can give you as much information as you want. Great school and location, they recruit nationally and as BLD pointed out it is very competitive from a baseball perspective, and they typically have kids drafted every year.

Wisconsin Lutheran turns out to be a super religious school. This is the second one that basically offered him a spot on the team.  Weird, since the kid has no interest in that sort of program.    Trinity though, we're taking very, very seriously. Looks like it would be ideal for him in many ways -- although they do seem to have a HUGE roster.

WLC has a nice but small campus. Nice facilities and very near Miller ParK.  Coach Schmitt is a young and very energetic guy.  Seems like a nice person too.  They're doing some nice field renovations as well.  They're not a top D3 program, but maybe improving?  I know they beat UWM last year.

Do you have to be intensely Christian to thrive there?

My son went on a visit there (Committed to a different school), and religion never came up with either the coach nor the admissions. Not sure what the campus culture is like on a daily basis.  I'm guessing a lot of kids go home on weekends, but not sure.  They're building a brand new dorm as well.  The field is not on campus but both the FB and baseball fields are quite nice.  and part of the field renovations, they're building brand new locker rooms.
