I guess the old sayin' "if ya stay around long enough"... you just might think you've seen it all... Well, yesterday afternoon in the bottom of the 6th inning of a "fan"tastic game down in Greenville, NC I saw one of the most amazing catches that I have ever seen in my 46+ years in baseball.
A centerfielder gives chase to a presumed off the bat homer to left center field. As the ball is leaving the park he plants his feet and leaps high into the air and with his right hand (he is lefthanded) and makes an unbelievable catch (i'm getting goose bumps just rethinking this catch in my head). As he is comimg down from this marvelous catch his lower torso hits the short four foot fence and literally flips him over the fence. Amazingly he is able to hold onto the ball.
I know some of you out there were actually there so please omit yourself from answering/commenting right away. REDBIRD don't spoil this) So... My question to all of you baseball junkies is; what's the call by the umpire ? Is the batter out ? OR, Is it a home run ?
