Looked for awhile like the program was improving, but it appears to have sort of plateaued lately. I suspect they will be down again next year. Old recruiting coordinator/pitching coach recently fired. New guy should be an improvment. I'm not going to go into the head coach other than to say he could be an issue.
IF you have specific questions PM me and I will try to answer them, or put you in touch with someone who can.
When Wofford makes a commitment to your son baseball scholarship-wise it is a four year commitment you can count on. No games, no bait and switch. They are also very good at finding ways to add academic money to the equation. These are valuable qualities of integrity and character that do not exist at every school.
Your son's choice of schools and baseball programs should be about finding the right fit. For my son, Wofford was the perfect fit. He has excelled on the field, gotten a terrific education, and made friends that will last a lifetime.
I could not have asked for a better outcome. If you have any questions, or I can provide any further info please fire away.
Natural , I have posted a PM
Would anyone have updated info on Wofford? Program and school?
Thanks

MTH, will you also copy me on the PM.
Thanks
Last post here over a year old. Any other updates or experiences to share. Thanks.
Wofford 2015 non conference schedule is getting better. Games against ACC schools Clemson, Pitt, and Boston College. Also games against SEC schools Vanderbilt and South Carolina.
coaches do a solid job of placing players in appropriate summer league. 5 Wofford players scheduled to play their 2015 summer ball in the Cape Cod League.
My first post on the site, though I've been lurking for a bit. Good info on Wofford. I know nothing about it other than the hoops team from some of their recent successes. If anyone in the know would be willing to PM me with any info they deem relevant that's not already been shared publicly, I would appreciate it. My oldest is looking at them, so trying to do some homework on this great site. Thanks!
Played against them many years ago...my favorite place to play...along with Elon. Beautiful campus! Solid program. Sorry, have no recent experience.
Probably the only major change since the prior posts is the pitching coach left to take the head job at Lander. Not sure if they've hired a replacement yet. My guess is they are still only funding 4-5 scholarships. That's not likely to change.
Coaching staff is solid and good people. Just lost RC/PC to head coaching job at D2 in SC. Son loved them, they liked him and we came late to them unfortunately. But they were honest and that is all you want. Wofford is also generous without being an athlete on scholarship. He was accepted and the money was not bad. And it was not loans like some others (looking at you C of C).
I have a friend who has two sons at wofford, both are 2015s. One is baseball the other in football. He loves the school as a great fit for his kids.

To follow up on this, Wofford has a decent sized foundation and does a pretty good job of coming up with academic money to help defray some of the costs. This is true for ALL students. They couldn't do it just for athletes without running afoul of the NCAA rules. Tuition is expensive, but not as high as some of the schools they compete with, like Furman. If your son/daughter is a high academic achiever, it may be more affordable than you might think, especially if you're in state.
Once upon a time, Wofford and Furman were viewed as elite academic schools. That cachet has faded a little over the years. However, they still do an excellent job at getting kids into graduate programs. I know of 4 former baseball players who are currently in medical school.
My son is a 2016 Wofford Grad. He is very happy with his career there and glad he did not choose to be a preferred walk on at a power 5 school.
In the past few years the team set numerous school records and funding has greatly increased.
Coaches are candid and sincere. They are technically sound and put lots of thought into summer league placements.
Plenty of pro scouts at games and Pro day is fully attended.
Thanks to all the replies and DG2012 for the IMs!
I think the new coach is Jake Schulman who was last at Pomona Pitzer. Young, enthusiastic recruiter. Straight shooter. One of my son's favorite contacts during the recruiting process.

Buckeye. PM me and I can help you with questions. Have a son there. Great program. Everyone associated with the school and program loves it. New pitching coach is Seth Cutler-Voltz. Was at UT Martin prior. Great guy and players really like him which is important since he is filling some big shoes with Burke leaving. Josh Schulman is the volunteer assistant and will help with the pitchers as well. I would say they are a program on the rise.
I don't know Seth Culter-Voltz personally, but he played at Virginia Commonwealth University and was a volunteer assistant there as well at the beginning of his coaching career. Nice family, from a good friend that dated his dad! Nice to know where he wound up!
We only did a drive through at Wofford on the way home from the 15U WWBA one year. LOVED that there were rocking chairs at the field! Only in the south......
