I grew up in the Midwest and I sincerely dislike both teams equally.

I listened to some guy from Columbus on the radio tonight talk about the whole state of Ohio shutting down for this game.

Thats not true at all...from what I remember. Most people in Cincinnati didn't give a hoot about this game at all. Probably more ND and UK fans (two other teams I strongly dislike) in Cincinnati than OSU fans.

Go Bearcats! Beat Rutgers. Big Grin

Kind of funny Bee> cause when I lived there the folks in SW Ohio didn't think too well of the "mistake-by-the-lake" in the northern part of the state.

Football and basketball players in SW Ohio aspired to play at ND, Michigan and Penn State...some at IU or Purdue. Very few had any real interest in OSU. I really don't know why that was so...but it was.

lafmom - Sorry for the slip-up...its just a basketball thing. Eek

Im a big college football fan. I watch every game I can and watch anyone that is playing. I follow the game and all the teams. After seeing all the teams in the race for the championship and after watching the game yesterday between Ohio State and Michigan there is no doubt who should play for the title. Ohio State and Michigan. They are the two best teams in the nation hands down. No one else could have gone into that environment against that team and had a chance to win but Michigan.

USC- If they survive Notre Dame still can not in my mind surpass Michigan. If they beat Notre Dame and I believe they will should be #3. Notre dame if they beat USC still lost at home big to Michigan. No way they can surpass Michigan. Florida if they run the table and win the SEC title game should face USC not Ohio State. They are just not as good as Michigan and will have a tough time running the table anyway.

If you want the two best teams to play for the title you have to want to see a rematch between the two best teams on a neutral field. It would be a great game between clearly the two best teams in the nation.
I dont know if you have ever played football or not but I dont know how you can call that player stupid for that play. He was trying like heck to make a play. It was obvious that he was not intentionally trying to do anything wrong. I thought the call was weak especially under the circumstances. I was not pulling for either team I just wanted the players to decide the outcome and not a call in that critical situation in the game. When you are going full speed and trying your heart out to make a play and you go into someone full speed sometimes your helmet makes contact with the other players helmet. It was not a stupid play just a guy trying to make a play for his team. It happens.
Yes, I did play football, and I nuderstand that things happen, but IMO football is all about controlled agression. You must be aware of the situation at all times. You have a QB that is on his way out of bounds on a 3rd and long play. There is a lot better chance that you are going to give them a 1st down with a penalty in that situation than he is going to earn it on his own. And as far as that being a weak call, they are going to call a helmet to helmet hit on a QB every single time.

agree, and btw - that call did NOT CAUSE Michigan's loss ... also, when was it that calls were based on intent?
the helmet to the head rule left little room for interpretation, esp with Smith out of bounds.
how about that early "roughing the center" penalty?? Roll Eyes they prolly had to throw some kind flag for a Coke commercial!

UM linebacker Crable is a local guy noted for his physical skills & not his intellect - I can still envision him "taking a charge" foul in basketball ... ya had to scrape the dribbler up off the floor like a flattened cartoon character - Eek

that said, he kept his nose clean in college & he'll leave with a Michigan degree in something ... tho he couldn't have had much time for trouble with football, academics, getting married, having 2 kids & supporting the bunch ... whew, big games like that are prolly a relaxation break for him Smile

if you want to throw stupidity around throw it at Carr - have been watching him "whine" to officials while acting clueless for more than a decade now ... I'd not be surprised to see a change soon considering his record vs OSU (the Tressel yrs)

They left it up to the University of Spoiled Children (USC) to walk the walk. If they can't, another game like Sat nites OSU-UM would be fun to watch on a neutral field. As much as the other conferences would be up in arms I think deep down every team involved knows who the best two teams are this year.
