Remember when your son played T-Ball and you knew where the coach pitch fields were and wondered what it would be like when your son got to play there?

Remember when your son played coach pitch and you knew where the kid pitch fields were (where you might have played) and wondered what it would be like when your son got to play there?

Remember when your son played on the kid pitch field next to the "big" field with the 300 foot fences and you wondered what it would be like when your son got to play there?

Remember when your son played on the "big" field with the 300 foot fences and you wondered what it would be like for your son to play on the high school fields with the 90 foot base paths and a 400' CF?

Remember when you had the tryouts at the University of Texas Disch-Faulk field and you wondered what it would be like to have your son play on that field?

Remember when you had the Midwest Prospects tryouts at the Baylor baseball field and you wondered what it would be like to have your son play on that field?

Tonight, in my office, near the Rough Riders ballpark in Frisco, I sat back in my chair, and looked out the window into the night, and, as the baseball stadium lights came glaring through............. I wondered.

Yeah....it's ok to be dad's dream too.

Soon enough, FO -- a matter of months. Is there a part of you that dreams about that old, dusty, broken down minor league park too -- with few "luxuries" but a ton of history? Smile I hope so.

I had similar dreams when my oldest walked down the aisle to receive his BA in Accounting -- his framed baseball jersey loaded in the truck for the trip home.

Fun, ain't it?

It is going by so fast...I do remember the 4 year old t-ball games with the overzealous parents (unfortunately, I was probably one of them) and the rah-rah high-fiving coaches - when all the kids wanted to do was get to the end of the game for snacks and a chance to run around and around the base paths until they were exhausted. Smile

Seems like it was just yesterday....sigh....

Cheapseats and FO, do you also remember taking your son(s) to the "big boy" games and letting him/them run the bases that those minor leaguers were on, thinking....maybe someday?

FO - We've been blessed that a young college player has influenced not one but two young boys, and those are just the ones that we know of. cry

We still enjoy those minor league games but back then the quest of boys trying to get a broken bat or signed glove after the game was so much fun ....now it is hard to find time to make it to a minor league game.
