Wood Composite Bats

My son will be playing in the PG Underclass. This past weekend he tried a wood composite bat for the first time (Combat 32/29). I need to buy him one soon and was hoping you wise posters could recommend some bats for me. I'm assuming it is best to use the wood composite as opposed to the all wood bats. If I am wrong, let me know. Thanks.

Real hitters refer to these bats as cheaters bats. If you spend your money on a good wood bat they will have more pop than any composite bat. The better the bat and no less than a -2 the better the piece of wood they use. The composite allows you to get away with a metal bat swing. If your son learns to swing real wood he is going to be a better hitter especially with metal.

Cheater Bats? I've spent pretty good money on supposedly "Good" wood bats, and my son has broken his fair share (I believe 7 in less than a year, maybe 75 AB's?). If Baum Bats, Demarini Composites, etc... last longer, I'm all for it. I do agree that real wood will help with the metal swing, but some of us would like those bats to last more than a couple tournaments...JMO. Smile

Gotta agree here. Wood bats break ultimately and so do composites (though generally much farther down the road). I would rather get a few of those during bp and have the boys use the wood during games. I couldn't afford it otherwise. Smile

Their site shows $155+$35 s&h for orders of fewer than 6 bats. My son who played some pro ball purchased one in the spring to use in his AZ mens league for $150+s&h.
