In 1906, White Sox pitcher Nick Altrock won a game without throwing a pitch. Altrock came into a tie game with two outs in the top of the ninth inning with a man on first. His first move was a pickoff to first base to get the third out. The White Sox scored in the bottom of the ninth giving Altrock the win even though he hadn’t thrown a pitch to a single batter.
