A few more specifics on what you are trying to achieve would be good, but as a catcher you cannot overlook working the legs hard as they take a beating over the course of the season. Squats and lunges are essential. Another thing thats very important for catchers is flexibility especially in the hips and hamstrings to be able to squat down and sway to the baseball when receiving. Flexibility is also very important when you need to quickly react and block the ball.
Doc A ,
Make sure that you do plenty of work for your
Hamstrings , this includes both strength and
flexibility training . One of the biggest areas
of concern is a catchers knees . With the Quad
work that you do in the weightroom , and the
repetitive squatting done on the field , you
must protect your knees . Most knee pain that
you see can be avoided by a good lowerbody
stretching program , combined with a well
devised Leg Curl workout for the Hamstrings .
You must maintain good muscle balance . I
would also follow the same shoulder program
that the pitchers follow . Also , make sure
that you do some extra rear-delt work .
GOOD LUCK ,
