You've obviously put a lot of time and effort into your website. I'm sure when you add some actual baseball footage, it will be something worthwhile to send along to coaches as a link. It looks like a work in progress and best of luck with it.

However..and I only say this from experience. You absolutely need to put as much effort (if not more) into your academics right now. I know you say "2.8 but improving". Trust me (and everyone else on this site who says it), grades mean so much more than you will ever know. And that's part of the issue. You will never know except by the number of schools that don't call you back, or coaches that never return an email, because your grades and test scores were not rock solid.

It is February of your sophomore year. You have plenty of time to talk with teachers and figure out an academic plan for the summer to get ready for SAT/ACT and to find out how you can get your GPA up before summer.
LW,

I think most here would agree completely with what Newcomer advised.

Seeing that we probably see more amateur video than anyone out there… Here are a few personal opinions.

Music is only good if it’s part of video of an exceptional player. Even then I’m not sure it is necessary and can sometimes be aggravating.

Video is only good if the player has excellent skills and looks like a player. Many who send video to college coaches are eliminating themselves from consideration without even realizing it. What looks good to you or your parents, may not look good to a college recruiter.

I like it when there is a photo of the entire body (in uniform) and a mug shot. People like to see both! An action shot or two might be a good idea as well.

Understand you're just trying to show a great attitude, but I don’t think you should say what you did here about yourself…

quote:
“Also the kind of kid that never complains about playing time or it doesn't matter where on the field/court he plays.”

It gives the signal that you have spent a lot of time on the bench and are thinking about something other than your main attribute being on the field. Not sure I’ve ever heard a high level player actually state that. It is a very good trait, though. You just don’t want to send the wrong message to the DI coaches you say you’re interested in.

Is that you in the photo wearing a Gator Nation shirt? Probably would only send that to Kevin O’Sullivan and not post it on a website. Not a big deal, but you never know who might be turned off by the shirt. Also any photo you post should make you look neat and well kepted with shirt either tucked in or all the way out. If you’re the other “taller” guy, that looks OK.

Please take this the right way. Not trying to be negative at all, really just trying to help. Remember that the most important thing about playing at a high level is ability, not marketing. Marketing works best for those who have lots of ability and can prove it. If you truly have that type of ability… GREAT! After that, academics are also high on the list. If not clearly displaying those things, I’m not sure your website will do much regarding creating real interest without including some good evidence of talent, visual recognition, and grades. Good experience for you though.

Best of luck!

I do like your introduction a little better, but would add a few more positives regarding your stengths and makeup. Maybe something along the lines of "The team's success is what motivates me the most"... just a suggestion, you can probably think of something better.

Also, unless I missed it... the site does not have the position you play. If you now play 2B I probably would say middle infield, if you are capable of also playing SS in the future.

Please don't take what I have to say as the gospel, I'm only looking at it from one of the viewers point of view. Just like players, all "viewers" are not the same.

Good luck

PG,
To take a quote from the cheech & chong...Blind baby, I'm a little unclear on the lyrics?

This has to make me ask...In your expert opinion, if there were something on a video that a coach wouldn't like and would eliminate the prospect from the potential recruit list, wouldn't the coach just eliminate the prospect when he saw the recruit in person exhibiting the same flaw?

How many recruits that eliminate themselves by sending video, do you think the colleges would have signed if they hadn't seen the video?

CPLZ,

I'd like to completely answer that question, but if I answered honestly it would open up a big "can of worms" and result in an argument. Smile

So the short answer is not many, if any, but it is possible.

Well, if it was summer, I'd say go ahead, I can alway use extra worms. Smile
