Another good discussion shut down and without notification---there was no name calling except for ypour truly being termed a LIAR---just shows the short nerve endings of umpires

I just want to respond to this thread by saying this:
piaa_ump is a moderator of this forum, and as such, he has the authority to shut down a thread if he sees reason to do so. I support his decision.
In case you wonder, here are some of the comments you made which I personally believe are insulting to the target audience of the "Ask The Umpire" forum:
"I am perhaps wrong in your eyes but that is again typical umpire thinking--you guys even if wrong will never admit it."
"Perhaps your focus problem is why you are an umpire."
"All I can say once again is typical umpire rhetoric---Blue is a color that can never be wrong."
Respectful debate of issues is always welcome here. I think that piaa_ump and others have been pretty patient in discussing incidents here, including discussions where members question the decisions of umpires. However, statements like those quoted above are blanket insults to a group of individuals and are just plain bad manners, in my opinion.

I shut down the thread. I have posted in the last few weeks that although we have always been against overmoderation in this forum that I would be closing threads where I thought that the topic had ceased to be of value or that I thought one of our umpires was being maltreated...
I closed that thread due to a lack of respect being paid to you....
I closed the thread with a message to the poster to PM me to discuss how we do things on this forum....

I agree. The discussion left the original topic for the last few exchanges and didn't appear to have any hope of returning. Not even to the topic of umpiring.
