I see Colonial Heights put quite a beating on LCB last night.

So much for LCB joining the top half of the Dominion District or has CH improved that much?

Someone posted on here at the beginning of the season LCB had three strong pitchers that would put the in the running to compete or a top spot in the Distict?

You're being way too kind. They opened up a can of whoop-*ss is what they did.

Southern Style Whoop

Glad I saved myself $5. The saving grace for Bird is that it was out of district, so it won't cost them anything except maybe some respect. Bird needs someone to step up and become their ace. Someone who will take the ball every week and get a "W" even when the offense is sputtering.

BTW...Conner has only pitched in one game, albeit very well against a young, winless Monacan team.

I'm sticking by my preseason top 4 picks (I must be going crazy) for Dominion district: JR, Cosby, Manchester, and Bird.

was trying to be kind...I dont understand why they dont give Conner the ball more>>>I was thinking this week maybe the used Lohr and Harmon becuase vs CH because they have a tough District match up later in the week? All I see they have is Thomas Dale.
Colonial Heights is deinitly not known as a baseball powerhouse last few years....maybe they have put a squad togeher this year?
If you were at the game you would known that it wasnt the pitching that gave the game away it was the defense. Yes bird would haveat the most given up 6 earned runs but when you have a team who cant catch a fly ball and cant string hits togther then yes you are going to get beat bad. But I will give the CH team credit they put the ball in play and they didnt make mistakes.
Midlo,

Sure anything can happen in this district with its crazy scheduling policies. Don't get me started on that. Wink There is no doubt in my mind the Midlothian team is young and hungry...they've proved that to me by being competitive in every game. Bird has already beat Midlo once, so they have the upper hand. The Bird seniors should lead by example and put it together to squeeze into that 4th slot. There is talent on that team, it just hasn't shined yet.

RedSox65,

The RTD boxscores indicate a very different game than you describe. The scorekeeper gave Bird 3 errors, and 6 hits. That is close to normal in a losing effort for a high school baseball game. However, CH had 18 hits, which tells me the Bird pitchers weren't fooling anyone. Usually, there are a number of events that get recorded incorrectly depending on the scorekeeper....but 18 hits? I'm glad I wasn't there is all I can say.

FYI, Midlo has not played Bird yet..Midlo has played tough in their 3 losses and beaten Monacan and Clover Hill. Next 3 games will prove if Midlo can beat a stronger team: Freeman, Manchester, Bird.
Florence pitched 7 innings for Manchester and Midlo was up 2-1 in top of 7 when reliever got in trouble with 1 out it was E6, walk, HBP and the bases are loaded. So coach brings the CF in to pitch. Slider, slider, count is 0-2 and coach calls for a FB, but not that location and ding, seeya, grand slam, Midlo lost. I guess the CF needed juuuuust a bit more warm up.

Regarding Midlothian Coach...."That coach is the front runner for Central Region coach of the year. From 0-19 to a winning record in one year? Someone deserves a lot of credit"

Agreed, that it is a good story. Yes, the guy deserves a lot of credit for improving his team. My guess is that is why he was hired. I'm always partial to coaches who get the most out of their players, and not so much about who wins the district or who has the best team. Midlo Coach has done that so far. I feel the same way about POY or any MVP award....who means the most to their team, not who is the best player on the best team.

Last year, I thought Tim Lowery (Cosby) deserved it but he didn't get it. I thought he got the most of his players & situations. I'm going to let the season develop, and see how things go. We should start a seperate thread on the topic.
