Thanks for the help GW,I might need a flame thrower not a box of matches!

In case any one is interested here is a web site to check out.

http://www.msasports.net/

MSA sports does a great job in coverage of HS sports in western PA. not only do they have articles they do a lot of ball game radio broadcast that can be listened to on the web.Games are live but can be replayed any time.

we had a game yesterday that was announced by Lanny Fratere ( I know I probably butchered that name) he used to do play by play for the Pirates and does a real nice job on HS games.

Here's Western PA getting some coverage ...

A day of mourning on this side of the state, Flyers kicked butt! Can they keep the scoring up through the playoffs? Flyers made it look easy.
The Flyers have two of the worst goalies in the NHL. I used to live in Philadelphia, The fans are bipolar. I still listen to WIP on occasion. The post game callers had them winning the Cup after one series. When the Flyers get eliminated (and they will) the same fans will be ripping the team to shreds.

Theury was a huge disappointment. Plus the Penguin's lost their composure and got caught up in playing the Flyer's game. Most teams can't out goon the Flyers.
Theury is a good goalie. He was horrible in the series. He mentally lost it. Both goalies gave up some really lame goals. The Flyers also got inside Crosby's head. They got Crosby distracted away from playing his style. He's a passer, not a fighter. He was more interested in instigating than making the big pass. Other Penquins were distracted from playing there game too.

I've had no love for the Penquins since Matt Cooke ended Marc Savard's career with a cheap shot to the head. Marc Savard was the top gun on the Bruins. Cooke lined him up for a head shot from the blind side at full speed from halfway across the ice There's a big difference between gooning it up and going for a player's head.

Freeze the video at 13 seconds. Find Cooke in the top right corner. See how far he comes to get Savard. There's a better overhead view at 5:10.

cheap shot

Then there's payback. The next game as soon as Cooke took his first shift, Thornton came over the boards with no intention of playing hockey.

lucky for Cooke it was stopped

WPIAL Class AAA

Blackhawk: THey have two dominant pitchers, Senior Adam Rousseau, and Sophmore Brendan McKay (LHP). They just beat Thomas Jefferson Pitt Recruit Greg Schneider (fastball 89) to go to the Championship game.

McKay was impressive, mature for his age with good mound presence for a sophomore. He threw a complete game, two hits and 15 strikeouts. Schneider also had the same line. A pitchers dual.

Norwin lost to Mt. Lebanon in the first round of the AAAA class.

sorry, I haven't checked out the site in awhile.

Wed. night is finals for WPIAL.

AAAA Seneca Valley vs. Mt Lebanon. SV has a strong team, probably start Matt Smith on mound. He is a Georgetown committ. He and my son squared off in son's last HS start, It was a 3-2 loss, 3 unearned runs in top of 7th. SV doesn't have to many weak spots, another D1 kid is Sid Breams son ( Liberty), clean up spot. SV is from our section son's team was 0-2 this year against them. Their 2,3 pitchers will not hurt them when given the chance.

Mt. Lebo is also solid. Lead off kid Luke Hagey is all everything for them. Football, basketball, baseball. Son's team played them in non section game beat them 3-0, we used 3 different pitchers. I wasn't at that game so don't know much about them. They beat North Allegheny to get there, NA team was in our section and they are always a tough out in the playoffs, so if Mt. Lebo. beat them they can hang with anyone.

Both SV. and Mt. lebo qualify for state playoffs. Either team will make you earn a win.

AAA Blackhawk is the only team I have seen play. Son's team played them on SR. night game after they lost to SV. They have 1st class catcher Emge, Ohio State committ. That kid is the real deal. rest of team played well in a 4-0 win. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the game, to many other things going on. They have a soph. lefty pitcher that everyone is raving about, he is 7-1 on the year, I think he is to start the championship game.

AAAA only gets two teams into the state playoffs, I don't know how many the other classifications get. AAAA teams from WPIAL have had pretty good succes the last 5 yrs.

Best of luck to any one still playing, my son is on to summer ball and getting ready for the fall. Hard to believe HS graduation is in a few days.
