A walkover is a forfeit like Jimmy03 says, which is different from a bye.

A forfeit happens in a dual meet when the other team doesn't offer an opponent. It happens in a tournament when your opponent was injured or disqualified or fails to show up after the bracket sheet is made out (e.g., in a two-day tournament, if the guy you're supposed wrestle in the semis fails to make weight on the second day, you'd win in a walkover.) With a forfeit, you walk to the center of the mat, the ref raises your hand, and your team gets the same number of points as if you had wrestled and pinned someone.

A bye happens in the opening rounds of a tournament when there aren't enough wrestlers to fill the entire bracket. You don't have to make an appearance on the mat, and your team doesn't get any points unless you win your match in the next round.

Probably more than you wanted to know, but, hey, it is wrestling season.

Our school is a traditional wrestling power in our area. Unfortunately, we just has a series of major injuries to our wrestling team. So, our last match, our opponent had 24 points due to "walkovers" before the match started. Walkover is when the other team has to forfeit a weight class due to, among other things, injury.
