I am scheduled to attend the Stanford Future Stars Camp in August. however, I was just today invited to attend the WWBA 16u tournament by a pretty well known team. My parents, due to financial restrictions are making me choose one or the other. So, which one provides better recruiting exposure for a 2013 grad?

At 16U, I would probably attend the camp if you have to choose one or the other...there should be a larger concentration of scouts/coaches there to work out in front of...where it could be hit or miss at the WWBA 16u. Last year, even when we played our game at the "complex", there were scouts there, but they were all concentrated around one field (not ours)...seems like the Canes from VA had a few more guys to look at than we did!
OF2013,

Here is my take between the 2 events for a 2013.

Stanford Futures:
You can search the search button about our experience with the Stanford Futures. Basically a smaller scale. 8 teams ( 15-16 players each ) vs 24 teams for the All Star Camp. Less coaches, but for sure will get looks from at least 20 coaches. It was a fun experience and you will play all 3 games at Sunken Diamond vs at least 1 at the All Star Camp. I recommend highly especially if you are also solid academically. We have had constant communications from at least 4-5 coaches from last year's camps.

16U WWBA:
Based on my communications with other hsbbwebbies, PG Staff, Perfect Game staff members..The most scouted and therefore I think most bang for the buck will be the 17U WWBA.

Having the chance to the Futures Camp last year, we will be doing it again this year because of some relationships that was nurtured from last year's camp as well as new coaches ( Some attended the PG Desert Classic, Four Corners Classic in AZ) that we have had communication with who will be attending this year's All Star Camp.

Our Scout team ( and looks like the only Arizona team so far) was fortunate enough to be accepted to the 17U WWBA Championships in East Cobb so that is a blessing.

Hope this helps.
I think Ryanrod23 is giving you some very helpful ideas about the Stanford Camp.
Personally, I don't believe the Stanford All Star and Futures Camp have an East Coast vs. West Coast consideration in the decision to attend. There are players and schools from all over the Nation who attend.
The far more important criteria is the quality of your skills/talent and ability on a baseball field and especially in the classroom.
The Futures Camp will include Ivies, schools like Georgetown and some others on the East Coast and similar type schools/programs from the West and elsewhere.
If you are a very solid student in the classroom, with talent on the diamond, those would be reasons to consider the Futures Camp, where a good number of coaches from good programs and top academic schools will be guaranteed to see you perform.
The lower the results a player is producing in the classroom and on SAT/ACT would likely make the Futures Camp a less attractive option. The coaches there might love the ability on the field but it won't matter if grades are a roadblock to admission.
I now realize that the Stanford Camp is probably a better exposure event, but the issue is that getting to and staying in Marietta will be alot easier and cheaper than getting to and staying in Palo Alto.

Is WWBA 16u mainly just major D1 schools scouting or are the some mid to lower level D1 schools there scouting as well?
2013 OF,

I think the Stanford Camp is great. I don't know anything about the costs involved, but if it is doable I would stick to the Stanford Camp.

That said, in the interest of accuracy, I doubt if there is better exposure anywhere for talented 16 U players other than the WWBA event This event will have hundreds, if not a thousand or more, future DI players and/or future draft picks. They are from every part of the country, many of the very best 16U programs. College recruiters are more interested in underclassmen than ever before. When this much talent is in one area, and playing for keeps, it is not ignored by those who recruit talent.

I do think the Stanford camp will draw more interest from smaller colleges. And the truth is, good players are going to stick out at the camp. The WWBA 16U has games spread out so that means the recruiters won't be able to see everything that happens. Though, through Game Changer and the PG database they will have information on every player and everything that happens.

The main reason I suggested you attend the Stanford Camp is because it sounded like you have "committed" to attend and it's a great event. Several of the same recruiters will be at both events. You mentioned being invited to play with a top program, but not their #1 team. The #1 team is likely to draw more interest,

Either place you go, the resulting interest will be based on your ability level and your academic level. Best of luck!
