SSmom,
Weather is HOT and MUGGY. Shade is a rare commodity unless you are playing at East Cobb Complex or one of the few high schools that have shaded bleachers. Otherwise, you are scrambling...I'd recommend bringing an umbrella - good for shade and for the occasional thundershowers.

Scouts are from all over - San Diego to Connecticut and everywhere in between (and of course lots of southern schools represented). This week has been strong with recruiters but some folks say that the 17U week is the best. Between players, families, scouts, staff, and others, I'd say these tournaments bring about 10000 visitors to the greater Atlanta area...a huge boon for local tourism. Seems like everywhere you go - restaurants, malls, shops - you see baseball players. Good stuff!
We were there last week with 18U team from California for 18U, had a blast. Saw over 100 scouts at one time at EC.
We are back this week with an East Cobb team for 17U.
Will be back for the 15U in two weeks.

Interesting, from a 2011 parent, you never know whether they are interested or even watching because they can't talk to your kid or you. If you are doing it right, you will get noticed.
PG puts on a great event. I have heard about it but was still amazed at how many scouts, players, and teams are there.

I know you guys don't hear this often, but the umpires were great also. I don't say that often but we had some good ones.
thanks Jeff!! What team are you with for the 17U? My son leaves in the morning and we are headed to Altanta Thursday. Just checking to see if we might be in the same pool. My son plays for the Dulin Dodgers. My son played in the TBCA showcase this year and we asked him when he threw the first pitch could he see all the radar guns go up. He said he did and he was nervous at first but tried to "tune them out" This showcase was only about 40-50 scouts-can't imagine over 100. Good Luck to your team and travel safe!!
Not in the same pool. He is with the East Cobb Indians 17U.

Midlo Dad. Mine is 2011. They can not talk to him or me at all. They can get information such as name, address, phone, school, etc. but that is it. They can talk to his coaches. His coaches last week were great and I was impressed that he was gunned and recorded even though he is only 2011 at 18U. It probably helps that he is 6'2" 195 pound lefty throwing 89. We are just enjoying it when there is no pressure.
Went and saw friends that we have played with before. Great dad and son time. My oldest is going to the 19U Dizzy Dean World Series. So I get that time with just him and I.
Making memories.
This our first trip to the WWBA 17U championships. It has been great so far. The East Cobb complex is beautiful as well at North Cobb HS. I have seen lots of schools. Since we are from Southern California I am not so sure the Southern/East Coast schools know who we are. Our big draw has been Jonathan Singleton who made the Aflac team this year.

Jupitor is one outstanding event. There was close to 300 scouts at some of the games.

SSMom,

I coach the San Gabriel Valley Arsenal. We have been fortunate to play all our games to date. We did get a scare last night at Wheeler HS. It rained hard for about 5 minutes. The coaches and players from Wheeler did a great job getting the field ready. We have seen a lot of scouts we know from SoCal. The East and South schools have been coming out to check out the games.
We will come back with our group again next year.

sgv,

You guys are doing great! Aren't you leading in your pool with runs scored? Our boys lost three and tied one. I don't think they showed up to play ball. At what age do they realize you cannot stay up until 4 in the morning and then get up and play baseball? They were dragging today. Do you guys mostly play in the California area or will you come down for the Jupiter, FL championship games?
My son plays on the 17U Dulins Dodgers from Memphis. We are going to Joplin, MO for the Premier Baseball Champion game towards the end of this month. My son is frustrated-they arent on the schedule to play today-lloks like they are the only ones in our pool that got in four games-I guess they will play tomorrow. If you guys need an extra right handed pitcher to go to Jupiter let me know. He got invited to the PG Southeast Top Prospect in Marietta in September. I dont think our team is going to FL. this year and he is disappointed!! Good Luck today!!
