That was pretty fun. We saw a bunch of guys who post on here and got to play all out of New England area teams meet some other coaches, players, and parents.

Everything seemed to go smoothly from our end for the first time out with no idea what to expect.

The time limit and tie breakers aspect was interesting to get use too, we were leading our pool going into the last game but knowing that we were actually only winning because we were tied in the first tie breaker and leading in the second tie breaker (runs allowed) and we were only up 1. We had to win, and we couldn't let up 2 runs. If we tied in runs allowed we would lose on the third tie breaker which was runs scored. Not a complaint since we knew the rules in advance going into the thing and they were clearly posted and communicated just an interesting twist to strategy that doesn't come into play often.

It was a lot of fun to coach in that kind of situation where you really knew you couldn't lose, every game was basically a must win and all three of our games were decided in the seventh I believe.

Kind of stinks that we had some really good arms that we didn't get in but we had to be ready for Monday especially since we were leading the pool going into the last game. Left four good arms un-used.

So we didn't lose a game, but tied... is this what coaching s****r is like?

We kept a solid book but Coach Kike Calero and Coach Scott Hopps took it with them I believe. I don't know if Perfect Game posts them.

I think next year we will pick the team earlier and practices more first. We only practiced one time and its tough to work on things. We also had an unusual high amount of strike outs. Obviously a combo of many things including the good pitching, cages were torn down by the hurricane so BP was almost impossible, lack of reps playing just once a week now since summer ball ended etc.

We played pretty clean defense but when we made errors the teams made them pay. That tie we rough because we had the lead in the bottom of the seventh and they got a runner on, we had two throwing errors including an attempt to pick the runner off of third by our catcher which went into LF and scored the tying run. The only run Ben let up in game 2 reached on an E6 throwing error threw over the 1B then scored on a play at the plate that the catcher dropped the throw home on an infield in situation. We really didn't make many errors but the few we did hurt.

I lost all three coin flips for home/away team too. Stuck with tails all the way and it let me down.
The event was the usual solid tournament with a good field and a good turnout of schools including some who traveled quite a distance. Elon, Richmond, Temple, USC-Upstate, Iona, Fordham, Dominican, FDU, Concordia, Navy, Adelphi, St John's, Seton Hall, Marist, Manhattan, Wagner, STAC were guys I remember seeing and or got to speak with.

We finished 2-1 winning 1-0, losing 3-1 (Ontario) and winning 10-5. Had no pland on being there for Monday because of school and never leave without having every pitcher throw and every player play.

We do things a little different and pitch no less then 3 guys per game. Keep the pitch counts and innings down so if we were going to make the playoffs Sunday evening, guys could come back and throw again. We too would have to re-think if we had the intention of staying

It was great to meet the guys from SL and they had some nice looking players. #27 caught my eye.
