PG no longer grandfathers teams automatically. They have to qualify in some way or another, by tournament, by reputation and by experience/consistency, or by known roster quality.

Individual players can apply to be assigned to PG squads. PG will investigate them and will do its best to assure that a player is good enough to compete at this tournament. In some cases, you can also latch onto the roster of a team that's in, especially if you just want to pitch once.

If you go with a team, you pay that team per whatever deal you make with that team. If you go the PG team route, I think the rate last year was $650/player. One key difference is that if you go the PG route, your playing time will definitely happen. I have known of teams recruiting cameo players and then leaving them on the bench all weekend; you don't want that to happen to you, so you have to be careful whom you deal with.
