I have loved watching the X Games since they first came out. I darn-near feel the G-forces at the top of the ramp runs and feel a little tense when looking down from the starting gate.

They seem to be showing skateboarder Jake Brown's unbelievable run then fall every half-hour today.

Makes me glad my guy spends so much time playing baseball that he would never be able to try this stuff.

Have fun!

While I can't say I am a big fan of the X-games I do occasionally watch it. I didn't see Jake Brown's fall until I just watched it from infidel_08's link - OUCH!

How is he doing now? Anybody know?

The main reason I don't watch the X-games is I just have a weak stomach for the major injuries. I can't watch stuff like that - it makes me hurt. Sort of like trying to watch that MTV show Scarred. Can't do it.

On the other hand those guys are EXTREMELY athletic to be able to do what they do. If I am watching something I know they aren't going to get hurt at I can watch it all day. They are amazing. I am just a big baby.

biggerpapi - what proof do you have that ALL people who do extreme sports are druggies? It is just like everything else - there are clean ones and their are dirty ones. Can't lump them all together.

OK biggerpapi...time to order dinner...what'll ya' have?
That's one steak fajita.
One bean burrito with cilantro.
Two soft beef tacos.
Lots of hot sauce and a large fountain drink...not much ice.
I've got it biggerpapi...next time could you write it out a little bigger...and all caps?
Your world is really tiny Wink and stuff is really hard to read. Thanks.
That's a frisky little dog you have there biggerpapi. What is his name? Molecule? Perfect!

I watched a little of this stuff on ESPN yesterday. It's the first time I've ever paid any attention to it. I was struck by how athletic and competitive these guys are...it's not my cup of tea, but I do have to give the participants credit for being in shape, training hard, and being driven.
Yeah bigpappi I would much rather have my kids hang out with the speed poppers and juice heads that play baseball. The guy who won the motorcycle jumping contest the other day rides for a Christian organization sponsored by Saddleback Church. I love the kids who perform on the X-games. I especially love their mothers who faithfully attend and watch their kids defy death regularly. Looks like a great atmosphere with a lot of families and comradere between the athletes.

And let's not forget that the Olympics are dumping baseball, while adding new X type games every 4 years.
As usual - I see it pretty simply.

I would rather watch an 18 year old kid - spinning in the air on a piece of wood - and having the time of his life -

before I would watch a 40 year old HGH/Steroid fueled freak like Barry Bonds sell his disgusting wares via our prostitutable media.

Every single time - I would go with the kid that has a spark in his heart and a smile on his face. Clean.

I, too, am glad my son's aren't dope-smoking skateboarders and snowboarders.

That's a pretty harsh stereotype.

Guess I'm too closed-minded.

I'd agree with that statement, but how about an apology? I'm sure there's a few kids on here who skateboard or snowboard that you just offended.
Biggerpapi

I am new here, but I think it is unfair to refer to all skateboarders and/or snowboarders as "dope-smokers" Any kid may end do those things, even those that play baseball or football.

My son is a good student; he studies hard, and yes, he snowboards - his high school has a ski/snowboard club.
He's not a dope-smoker. He volunteers with other members of his baseball team to help out special olympics. This ski/snowboard club consists of nice kids, those that don't do drugs, smoke or drink.
