I know some of you may have heard about this (I did on the Score yesterday), but Kansas City and Schaumburg of the Northern League are going to combine XBOX and real baseball. More details here....

Basically for 2 innings, 2 fans will play each other on XBOX (shown up on KC's stadium screen) and then after 2 innings, the physical players will continue the game from that point on, on the field. So, I guess you could see a 32-27 game after 2 innings.

Baseball traditionalists probably don't like this idea but from a business/marketing standpoint, it is brilliant. Talk about fan interaction.

I know this is not high school baseball, but somehow at one point this board was talking about football...so I figured this might be a suitable topic for the board. Anyone have their own thoughts on combo of technology and real baseball??

Correct, part of the real game. If it is 32-32 after 2 innings with the Flyers' clean-up guy up...he leads off the "actual" game.

I wonder what happens if the "fan" puts in a catcher to pitch...does the catcher have to go out to the mound when the actual game starts? Would be interesting to see what happens if the fans clear the benches. I'm sure there are some stipulations.
