There are a number of overlapping camps/showcases at the end of July beginning of August. Any thoughts

Yale Camp July 28-31
Princeton Camp August 1-4
Headfirst Long Island August 3-6

Son is currently a Sophmore 16 year old. Plays OF, 1b and relief pitcher (lefty only 75- 78 mph fastball but good location and movement plus change up and curve). 3.86 average. 7.0 sec 60 yard dash at present. He wanted to get exposed to a few higher academic colleges even though he understands as a 2012 grad he is likely not going to get the attention of 2011 grads which can be recruited. Anyone have experience with these as far as programs, colleges attending etc (the headfirst posts so we know those)

If your son was a Junior I too would say go to Headfirst as that is where he will get the most exposure to different college coaches.

My son attended the Yale camp after his Sophomore year and had a great time. The guy coaching his team actually stayed in touch and recruited my son throughout his Junior year.

I have heard similar good things about the Princeton camp from friends of my son who attended.

You might want to do either Yale or Princeton this summer and then Headfirst next summer when its most important. My son ended up going to a school where he first met the coach at Headfirst.
AlbanyDad,

My understanding is a few Ivys (Brown, Cornell, Yale, Penn) and other D1 schools formed their own camp called GPA. I do not think these schools will be attending Head First this year. http://www.gpabaseball.com/

My son attended Head First last year and got tons of interest and ended up going with one of the Ivys noted above. Head First was a fantastic experience for us that gave us meaningful contact with coaches representing schools that have both academics and athletics in mind.

Best of luck.

If I am interested in the Ivy's I would talk directly to the coaches to find out if they will appear at Headfirst this year. It does appear that several will not be present. It probably depends how they make out in their own venture.
