Hi,

I am a student from Canada who played one season in a JUCO (06/07)... during summer ball after my freshman year I broke my leg, so I transfered back home in Canada.

Right now, I am ready to go back to the states; and I am being recruited by some DIII... I know the 5 year eligibility rule in DI, but does it apply to me and does it apply also to DII, DIII, and NAIA????

Can someone help me!?!?

Thanks,
Frank

DII, DIII, and NAIA all use a slightly different rule. Instead of 5 calendar years, you get 10 semesters or 15 quarters of full-time enrollment. See 14.2. Also, if you can show that the broken leg affected your ability to play in two (not just one) seasons, then you may be able to get a waiver to get another year. See 30.6 in the NCAA manuals.

In DIII, there is a limit of 4 seasons of participation (D1 and D2 limit is 4 seasons of competition). The DIII rules are not too clear on this point, but I believe that participation is defined as competition, except any practice that has taken place at a DIII counts as participation.
