Coach Paul Saikia, good guy, we play them twice a year, and we will joining their conference for 2008. Paul is a NO NONSENSE guy...his teams usually HIT. I would say one of the top 3 hitting teams I face year in and year out. Pitching is not their strong suite. Also, his defense is very very stong. One other thing, maybe the best playing surface in DIII ball. In fact maybe in the Mid Atlantic. The field is maticulously maintained. I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't say consider Villa Julie, we are about 45 min south of them, and are quickly (hopefully this season) catching them on the playing field. Hope this helps, I have nothing but good things to say, except we are better than them :-)
Our son, a Jr. High School catcher and our family went to visit York a few weeks ago. We were impressed with the school, and really impressed by their new sports complex, although it was not near the baseball fields.Field was VERY nice! However, we had contacted the coach prior to our visit, and tried to meet him, but kept missing him. We left a message, but for whatever reason, he never got back to us. We did meet an assistant coach that was very nice. We are still considering schools where son can play....we will see about York... they seem to recruit all over the area....
Can't help you with info on the baseball program, but my niece, a business major with a minor in Russian, will graduate from York on May 12th. She has loved her 4 years there. Everything from class size to interaction between students and professors to overall student life has been great. She had a little bit of a struggle adjusting to her roomates early in her freshman year, but other than that, she's loved being there.
