I like to get pants that are "H" cut which are what the pros wear that is called husky cut. They are something in the order that Manny Ramirez wears. I don't like them hanging over the back of my cleats. If you get pants a couple of sizes too big they are more comfortable and less restrictive. I really don't like to wear my pants high.
But, an excellent way to do this without sliding the pant leg is this: Turn your pants inside out. Then pull the leg up where the elastic at the bottom of your pants is at the bottom of your kneecap. You can pull the pant leg up higher if you desire and it is not too tight around. You can even remove the elastic band if your pants are too tight as you pull them that high. Then pull your pants up and snap them. Then adjust the length of you pant by pulling the pant leg up or down. Do not adjust where the elastic band is. It gives the look that the pants are actually the length that you are wearing them. The also stay up. _______________________________________________________________________
I generally wear mine based on the uniform that we wear. On the road with the colored jersey, I wear the socks up. At home with all white, I wear the socks down. Since we play most games on the road, I voted show whole sock.
My son started wearing the pants leg down to the ankles starting in 14U. He was the last to start growing on his travel team. He felt pants leg down gave him a taller look. I told him it was a less short look, not taller. Previously he wore them up.
