Your son's Glory Moments

It would be interesting to read posts of newspaper articles from around the country of our sons' glory monments....your know, 2 out walkoff home run, clutch hit in the bottom of the last enning with 2 outs, etc. Here's my son's. Not offen the words "heroic" and my son's name appear in the same sentence:

"And in the seventh inning, junior Chris Rinaldi led off with a single and then moved to second on an errant throw by the catcher on a pickoff attempt. Eighth-grader Dean Guidry provided the heroics in that inning, blasting an RBI single to tie the game at 8-8.Guidry then moved to second on an error by the first baseman, on another pickoff attempt. With the game-winning run in scoring position and the Falcons’ best hitter at the plate in Longman, it appeared the momentum was in ESA’s corner."

We ended up losing in extra ennings 10-8. My son is currently batting .405 second only to our best hitter at +.600. The Divsion I prospect on our team is third.

Yes we're related. Guidry, as in former Ragin' Cajun Ron Guidry, Cy Young award winning pitcher for the Yankees...Louisiana Lighting....Gator...no. 49 retired jersey. We are 2nd cousins, but when I'm in New York he's my brother. Went to a Yankees game Sunday. They beat Kansas City 4-2. Almost caught a foul ball off of D. Jeter's bat that rolled off my fingers to the floor behind me where a young lady picked it up.

i have a few that happened to me when i was yuonger. i was 10 and there was a runner on third with 2 outs. at the time i just turned 10 that day and was facing the best pitcher in the league who was 13. with a 3-2 count i took him deep the oppisite way.

a couple games later i am up again in a game in extra innings. it was 11 o clock and the ump told us i was the last batter no matter what. so with 1 out and another 3-2 count i ripped one to left center and drove in the game winner.

last good one was when i was 12 and facing the best pitcher in the town championship and bases juiced i went deep into "the swamp" which is behind our field. won the championship 7-5

My son's glory moment was last year in the LL 12 yr old district team. My son's pitching coach, who also helped coach the district team last summer, stood up in the stands and yells right before my son comes up to bat "I'll give the next kid $100 if he hits a home run" Well, with the bases loaded, at the first pitch my son swings and hits a grand slam, way over the fence. We won the game and the poor coach had to pay up. (we obviously pay him too much!) My son was the hero that day!

Dixie Youth Baseball, my son pitched a no hitter. Pitched a complete game (6 innings). Was one strike from a perfect game and the kid hita slow roller to his left, hes a righty, he had to field it awkwardly but had plenty of time to throw the runner out. He rushed his throw and threw it in the dirt and the 1st baseman couldnt scoop it. Error, perffy out the window. He struck out the next batter for the no hitter. It was surreal. All the coaches from the league and the other kids on the other teams were all watching it and holding there breath wondering if he was gonna do it. After the game all the coaches from around the league congrdulated him on such a performance. And a lot of the older more seasoned coaches said that was the best pitching performance they had ever seen from a 12 year old. I was a proud papa. Smile Oh almost forgot, he threw 76 pitches.
