OK, So my 10 soon to be 11 year old got a good wooden bat for Christmas.  It was a youth model made out of maple made by easton.  Well, he ended up breaking it in the cages.  I like the wood bat for him because it is a drop 8  versus these ultra light aluminum bats.  He is a bigger kid and has no issue with the weight of it (only 23 oz).  I tried to find out if there are any 31" 22 or 23 aluminum bats on the market but didn't find any.  I found some more youth bats, but they are $35, which I know is not a lot of money for a bat, but if he keeps on breaking them I could end up spending a fortune.  Anyone have any suggestions.  Yes, he was hitting cage balls, but I have seen people use wood bats all the time in the cages...

I don't have them up on our website yet MacDougallBats.com , but we are just about to launch our new youth wood bat line.  They are made the same way as our adult Powerwood bats.  They will carry a ONE YEAR breakage warranty and they are 100% real wood.  Just had a bunch of kids try out the prototypes at a local indoor hitting league the other night and they loved them.  Although they cost the same to make as our other bats, we will be pricing them $20 less at $169.  They will be approximately a -6 swingweight.

In case you haven't heard, beginning in 2018, all youth bats will have to comply with a new rule that is essentially the same as the BBCOR rule.  In other words, they will have to perform the same as a wood bat.  The lead organization on this is USA Baseball but Little League and others are participating.LL bats
